Part One

On June 2 1944 the Allies prepared for a huge invasion of occupied France to force out the Germans. Many divisions were already in the English channel and more were being prepared.

The British and Canadian divisions began to load onto transports in Portsmouth docks...

The fleet then made its way to rendezvous with the others in the channel.

Meanwhile, the US embarked ships in Kent...

Which also went to meet the main fleet.

In the evening of June 2, the landing forces had been prepared.

Facing possibly the greatest fight of their lives, against fortified positions along the Atlantic Wall, the soldiers of the allied armies set off from the fleet on landing craft, headed for the beaches of Normandy...

I don't get it. Was there suppoed to be no soldiers in Normandy?

There were no soldiers in any of the provinces that could be immediately attacked from the sea province. I even gave the Germans a chance to get into position by loading the troops in Portsmouth and Dover. I could have invaded with the 20 divisions already at sea.

It looks like the battle engine could still use some refining though. Wonder if the HOI1 mods like CORE or Stony Road will be applied to it, since it is not likely to give the challenge if things are to remain as they are now.

you'd think this kinda thing would be sorted out in the betas

I think they are doing a very through work. But you can't have an eye on everything. I'm sure Paradox are employing the best testers, but it only gets refined in action. That's why mod writers are for, anyway.

One a second note though, maybe Paradox should employ them in the first place.. :D

It doesn't matter. Only four(5 if count a militia) divisions can get to the beaches in time to contest the invasion, so if you come in force(+20 divs) they can't stop you. Indeed, trying to do so would only get them mauled, which doesn't really help the ai much.

Edit:well not enough to stop the invasion anyway.

think of all the people without an internet connection that have been completely ripped off because their game is unplayable
And who doesn't have at least a 56k and a computer that can play this?
