I had a problem with playing an MP game with a D-Link DI-604 router. As I solved the problem with the help of a D-Link help desk officer, I place the solution here.

Warning: It opens all the ports for the time of the gameplay.

1. Open your web browser.
2. Choose http://192.168.0.1/ - it's the address of your router
3. type in "admin" as a login and leave password out blank during authentication
4. choose home>lan>client list to find your IP number
5. choose tools>misc
6. at "IP Address of DMZ Host" type in your IP number (the final part)
7. check "enable"
8. press "apply"

I hope this will be helpful to someone.

Gentlemen. I own a DI-704, pretty much the same thing, but it's got an extra serial port and a parallel port for a printer.

Anyways, there IS a way to open just the ports we need to play EU2, I've done it for other games I own, namely 'MechWarrior 4:Mercenaries, and Counterstrike, the Halflife mod.

The odd thing is, that even though I have the trigger port (which appears to be 47624) open, the router is still blocking said port. I checked my log, and that was the only port being queried by my partner, and yet it was being blocked.

Does anybody happen to know which ports have to be opened to allow the firewall to pass the EU2 game through without opening the huge security risk that DMZ Hosting allows?

I love EU2, but I'm not very happy about having to leave my computer vulnerable for 5 or 6 hours each session... and we all know that a whole game comprises a great many sessions indeed...

The port range is 23000-24000 - so reads another post at the forum.

Could you please post about opening this port range when you succeeed?

I don't like the idea opening all the port either as I had a major tripple system-killing viral infection only yesteraday :(

Btw. are worms likely to enter my computer via the open ports? What are other risks?

Looks like it fell through. The game that I was going to use to test it, tonight, that is.

Log shows a lot of hammering at port 137... Wonder what that means? 137 isn't a port generally used by games that I know of...

How to connect to a game.

Okay... I managed to join several games on Valkyrienet by doing this. Note, this will only allow you to JOIN... I can't seem to host, and I don't know why. If you want to host, you'll have to keep on using the other method, I guess.

1. Open your web browser.
2. Type in the Address Bar: http://192.168.0.1/ - it's the address of your router
3. type in "admin"(Or whatever you've changed your password to) as a login
4. Choose 'Advanced' down at the bottom
5. Choose 'Special AP'
6. The Trigger will be 47624
7. Incoming Ports will be as follows "23000-24000"
8. Check the Enabled box
9. Hit Save
10. Hit Reboot

No, it's not a search engine. It should be the browser main page for your router.

Do you own a router? If so, pull out the instruction manual, and read the first few pages. It should tell you what the address for your router is. With the D-Link series, it's supposed to be http://192.168.0.1
