I'm currently playing a HOI2 : DD 1.3 together with DAIM 1.2, as Germany. I didn't download the backup or the customised events folder, as advised.Anyway, the game went smoothly without hitches but I noticed one or two discrepancies. In my first attempt, I found that in the Spanish Civil War, the Nationalist Forces in Seville just sit there most of the time, doing nothing - well, apart from taking over, at most, three provinces around Seville and then stalling, and the Nationalists in NorthWestern Spain were also much less aggressive than usual- the result was that the newly rejuvenated Spanish Republicans wiped out the Spanish Nationalists within an absurd 6 month period. I reloaded (my original save just at the very start of the Spanish Civil War(SCW) and it started out much the same way, again. In the end, I had to reload and get my Portuguese ally to declare war on Republican Spain and use German planes to defeat the Republicans - which is historically correct, anyway, as Germany did lend a lot of planes to the Spaniards etc.

It occurred to me, therefore, that you might have made the Spanish Republican AI more aggressive than usual, as the Nationalists normally don't lose this fast - is that the case? I'd thought that you'd only tinkered with the AIs of the major powers. It could, of course, have just been a random example of the strange AI behaviour of standard DD as I've had alternate games where, for no apparent reason, Japan just stalls its army in Northern China completely and meekly allows China to conquer Manchuria etc. by 1941 etc.

A couple of other things:- France started to declare war on me just as Republican Spain was reduced to its last 3 provinces in Catalonia. It could have been the high belligerence score I had(=15) or the diplomatic score(France at -73), but I just wondered if perhaps you'd made the AI nations more aggressive than usual re declaring war.

Also, I wanted to try both this mod with 1.3 as well as playing a separate game with CORE. Unfortunately, Paradox wouldn't allow me to create more than one folder for it, though - is there a way to get round this? I personally would love to play both DAIM and CORE in the same game, but I've been told it would take too much work to achieve a combination.

Lastly, what were the "customised events" that we were told not to install? I know that one of them was the Mers-el-Kebir event which gets the UK to declare war on Vichy, but can you give me a rough idea of what the other major events were that will be missed out on my DAIM installation - that way, I can always reload as the relevant country and enforce the event in an artificial way.

Thanks

To play DAIM and CORE just create a copy of Doomsday (literally, use ctrl + c and ctrl + v) and install both, or you can give JGSME a shot. I'm not sure it'd work though.

As far as Spain, DAIM only modifies the AI of Germany, Japan, SU, US, Italy, UK, China, and maybe France (I'm not sure).

There is a "Customized Events" option when installing DAIM, what is it?

We changed a few events for various reasons: We changed the surrender of China to Japan in order to prevent a supply convoy bug that happens every once in a while. Now Japan gets the whole coast when China surrenders (changed japan.txt and nationalist_china.txt). And we added two events: "Mers-el-Kebir" which gives Great Britain the option to attack Vichy France (for historical reasons) and a "Slider Reminder Event" which fires within a few days whenever one of your domestic policy sliders can be moved (we replaced the content of japanmanpower.txt with them because the events there didn't work anyway).

Correct. From the F.A.Q.:

Which countries' AIs are affected by DAIM?

Currently there are DAIM AI sets for Germany, Italy, Japan, Great Britain, Soviet Union, U.S.A. and Nationalist China. Additionally some minors have been adapted to help their corresponding major power more, e.g. Canada for the UK or Manchukuo for Japan. We didn't touch France or Spain though.
