Hi

I have been out of the game for a number of months and realized I was forced to update my EU4 to ver. 1.29 to be able to play nowadays. However, I have run into an issue when playing a Japanese Daimyo. I tried to play Date, a small state with Land Force Limit of 5. I have gobbled up a few smaller states around me (losing two Daimyo to forced seppuku on the way), namely Echigo, Mutsu, Shimotsuke, Hitachi and Shimousa, with the former three already having been cored.

But I still cannot get any higher force limit! All my conquered provinces stay at 0.00 in the Land Force Limit info box. What is the problem here? Am I doomed to stay at 5 LFL, thus having no chance of reaching Shogunate at some point? Or is there some mechanic I have overlooked or is new with the more recent versions than I have been used to?

Thanks for all help!

Is their autonomy high? Provinces with high autonomy give less of everything, including force limit. When conquered they may be at 75%, and if you increase it to lower unrest you won't get any benefit from the province until it lowers. Also, make sure you remember to core and state it, then you can add the nobility estate, which bypasses autonomy on land force limit and manpower.
