which Pentos Trip? the first or second?

With the first you don't have to worry about losing Warscore from getting sieged because Dany isn't Temp granted a Pentos Barony like she is with the second Pentos choice, so you can keep your troops at Pentos or on your ships and Stall for time, for Dragons to mature for taming and for the current claim wars to slow down, the LPs and various lords tend to ignore multiple wars in favor of whatever was going on intialy, so most of the lords will have either declared in Robbs or Stannis/Renlys wars and wont back Dany right away, and those wars concluding is to your advantage, Robb winning his Independece bid usualy dethrones Joff/Tommen and most of the time Stannis will grab it, and as anyone that ever checked out Stannis enough will know he isn't very well loved and most of the time its easly to get half of Westros declaring for Dany over Stannis, if their not tied up in other wars, and if Robb and/or Stannis/Renly lose their wars Joff/Tommen will have usualy racked up a ton of Tyranny and the lords will be inclined to back dany if you haven't accrued too many negative opinion mods.

So, you need time to win the 1st Pentos track, if your bored you can risk declaring war on Stannis for Dragonstone and hunker down there if you don't lose too many event troops doing so. although the IT ai might go after you once you get a holding. If your dragons mature and your able to tame Drogon, spy out the area arounds Kings Landing and doublecheck to see if the current King is located there, if its Joff or Tommen its almost guaranteed since they are underage, so you can drop your stack there and burn the siege down with Dany/Aegon dragons if the crownlands armys are far away enough and win the war through imprisonment.

Aren't they usually educated by someone at court though? If they're an adult they're probably out leading an army somewhere.

I've noticed that if someone is being educated in court then they aren't in court. Mad, but that's how it seems. And if they're being educated outside of court then they aren't at home or at their tutor's court for siege purposes.

I have captured Joff or Tommen plenty of times as long as they were being educated in KL, in the AFFC date Tommen is frequently being educated by Cersei and since she holds the westerlands he gets a little harder to capture.

However, I think you can capture the child ruler if you can capture the mentor in the mentors capital, but I am not 100% sure on that.

Ok, did some playing on my own. Here is my observation:

For ACoK, I find it easier to declare war on Stannis for both the High Lordship and Lordship of Dragonstone, while waiting for the dragons to mature. Once they mature, become a dragonrider and declare dragon conquest on the balkanized Stormlands. You'll not get the Iron Throne this way, but to me, it's better than the all-or-nothing approach.

For AFFC, the Riverlands and the Vale have to declare for Aegon/Dany. If not, at least Euron must grab the Reach from Mace. If you have a 5-way alliance against you (Westerlands-Reach-Crownlands-Riverlands-Vale), you're done.

I landed with Illyrio's army on KL. We lost to the combined Iron Throne and Reach army but we had an orderly retreat and we dealt them a lot of damage because the Reach joined the fight later. Then Stannis' army lost to Joffrey's but was able to whittle him down. Then the dragons matured and we won.

I took a longer path. Renly took the throne first, while I did my dragon conquest of the Stormlands, and bits of the Crownlands and Dorne. Formed the titular Kingdom of Tarth. Also subdued the Free Cities for money, and "asked" for the Seastone Chair. As Iron Queen, I discreetly disposed of Renly's heirs: Stannis, Shireen, Renly's son (all through plots; the percentages were >200%). I left Stannis's second infant daughter around as Renly's heir. Renly then declared war for the Stormlands on Dany (as I usurped the title from him). Engaged him in battle to charboil him, then plotted to dispose of the infant Queen. Viola! Aegon the dear husband is now King . (Later developments have Tywin and other LPs fighting to put Dany on the Iron Throne. Awkward.)

Maelys don't really stand a chance, as no LP will declare for him, as far as I can tell. I haven't looked at Daemon, but in canon, quite a number of lords declared for him, although I'm not sure if any LPs do. His rebellion failed due to his death.

And losing at Redgrass

The problem with Daemon is that he has enough troops, but you only personally control about 18k. The rest are all AI controlled and they do the stupidest things.

One thing that seems to almost always work is to blitz march on kings landing and siege it down, hopefuly with the King inside, your supporters troops will usualy spend that time being silly and dying, but its tying up the LPs troops long enough for you to siege the Red Keep, and if you capture the King you win. if your worried about time you should be able to get away with an Assault, some of your supporters might shadow you for the siege and provide more count and in some situations you might not care if half of your event spawned army dies in the assault if it wins you the war.
