Some words before I start the story: I would like some tips on the language and the writing style to improve my writing as I'm writing this AAR to find out if I could develop writing into a hobby of mine, to follow some advice my Philosophy teacher once told my whole class: One important part of a fulfilled life is to do some creative work.

I try to write in the perspective of some newspaper/radio station in germany and I will use some of the experience I got when I had to read newspapers for an important essay I had to write in school roughly a year ago. We were free to choose the topic of the essay and as I wanted to have the eastern front of WW2 as my topic I had to find a way to directly find sources, so I choosed to write about how the newspapers covered this topic as I could only think about local newspapers with enough source material as I live in a small, irrelevant town in western germany. Everyone who reads this story, lives in Germany and thinks about choosing a similar topic with nazi-newspapers as his source for the Facharbeit in the Abitur: I can't recommend it, the papers are a pain in the ass to read with all the stupid propaganda the nazis have in them.

Another Important things about gameplay mods I use: Naval Rework - Lite and Motorized Artillery Units

But now the AAR:
Das Tausendjährige Reich – A Germany AAR

After the Machtergreifung Hitler is now planning to rearm our country to be able to secure Lebensraum in the east and to defend the German people and Europe against the Bolsheviks. To achieve this aim the expansion of the Industry, Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine is planned over the course of the next years with the aim to have over 200 Divisions in the field, a fleet with over 200 surface vessels and the Luftwaffe big enough to protect the Vaterland against enemy air raids and to support the advancing Wehrmacht.

The economy policy for the year ’36 included the expansion of the civilian industry to be able to build and repair military factories and military infrastructure and to create jobs for the people. Some of the campaigns to create jobs included the Rearmament of the Rheinland, the building of the Autobahn and the fortification of the French-German border with the Westwall. To support a faster build-up of the industry Krupp was appointed as the leading industry research company and Hjalmar Schacht and Walther Funk were appointed as ministers. At the same time new dockyards and naval armament factories were built and new construction and production methods were established, while our scientist developed new calculating machines and new scientifical methods to bring our great Nation forward.

At the same time our military developed a new branch of special forces and the theoretical basis for the Marineinfaterie were created with plans to establish them around ‘38/’39 while the current buildup of the Wehrmacht continued with the recruitment of new Infanterie-Divisions. To speed up the development of new doctrines Heinz Guderian was appointed to position of the leading theoretician of the Wehrmacht. During the course of the year the Kriegsmarine developed the new M-Class light cruisers and Hipper-Class heavy cruisers and ordered 5 units of each, while the Panzerschiff Admiral Graf Spee, 3 Destroyers and 8 Submarines were put into service. In the young Luftwaffe the first modernization efforts were started with the first new Bf 109s produced by Messerschmitt.

With the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War on the 6th April the Wehrmacht saw the first combat operations since it was reformed under our Führer Adolf Hitler. While all Divisions were eager to go to Spain to support the Nationalists under Franco in the struggle against the Republican forces and their Soviet supporters, Hitler decided that the 1. and 2. Panzer-Division under General Rommel should be send. After the arrival in northern Spain the Panzer-Divisions cleared out the last pockets of Republican forces in Northern Spain, afterwards the Divisions were directed towards the North-Eastern coast, where they were used to create pockets of Republican forces and then to break them, following this they liberated Barcelona on 20th May and after the defeat of the last enemy forces on the French border the Panzer-Divisions were directed southwards along the coast, during this advance they continued their tactic of creating and breaking up pockets of enemy forces. During this advance on 9th August Valencia was liberated and roughly two weeks later on the 24th August the 2. Panzer-Division liberated Murcia, which lead to the capitulation of the Republican forces on 25th August, as the Nationalist troops already advanced into the important cities in central Spain and with that all of Spain was liberated and the Führer gained a new possible ally next to the Duce Mussolini in Italy.

On 27th August Italy ended its campaign in Ethiopia and expanded its colonies in East Africa.

In the athletic sector the XI. Olympiad was a huge success, both in the sportive manner as the German athletes were the most successful with 33 golden, 26 silver and 30 bronze medals, and also in a political way, as our great nation could present itself from its best site to the nations around the world. In the football final to choose the new Deutscher Fußballmeister 1. FC Nürnberg won against Fortuna Düsseldorf with 2 goals compared to 1.

Your philosophy teacher told you well, as my adviser once told me, "A paper is not a one-time project, but an ever progressing project." How true.

You've already succeeded in knowing what type of AAR you want to write (newspaper/radio narrative format). That's always important.

As for myself, the only tips I can offer is you should outline before you write. You'll have, presumably a lot of material you can use. What do you want to use. What do you deem unimportant. For AARs that I write, I like to be ahead in the writing before posting, i.e., having 3 or 4 updates already prepped before I begin posting (I write history-book AARs), this way whenever I feel unmotivated or am busy with real life issues, I still have a handful of posts I can still update bi-weekly or so, and therefore have a good two week advance.

Plotting is something I emphasize for myself in my work. I like to know, beforehand, what I have planned, where I want to go, and what I want to accomplish. If you want this to be an AAR, BUT ALSO a creative project, I would advise outlining and plotting your story. Actually put thought into it, perhaps research too. Try to review your work too, before posting, as grammar, syntax, and punctuation is more important seeing that this is a creative writing project too. To quote another former professor of mine, "practice does not make perfect, practice makes permanent."

I wish you luck. Take whatever advice you want, or none at all. Will be watching/reading.

Cheers!

I find old-style headlines (NOOSE TIGHTENS AROUND CITY! THOUSANDS FLEE BY BOATS IN HEAVY SEAS!) and clips of newspaper or press release material an attractive approach. I find it hard to want to write straight journalistic reportage and keep it interesting. Juxtaposing the news with excerpts from private or confidential materials, such as diary entries of a knowledgeable participant analyst, correspondence, military white papers, and some narrative by the editor to tie it togther - particularly when there is more than one side to the story. This can include a mix of actual historical material and some written as role play for the occasion. Varying the approach makes it less like work.
