Edit: I fixed this by enabling admin permissions for the launcher and then running the launcher on its own so it could update.

Lost all my playlists, but I just created a new one and I can run the game with mods again.

Hello,

I have deleted the mentioned file, and then resubbed to all of my Steam Workshop Mods which caused the error message to come up again.

I have not verified my Stellaris install, but I saw on the CK III forum that others were having similar problems with the launcher and mods.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same the other day. Strangely I played inthe afternoon fine, then in the evening it was not working. Deleting the file, and even other files, didn't work. In the end I solved enabling the beta launcher, in the launcher setting, bottom left in the image you included.

We now have reports of this with Avast antivirus only, except just 1 report on AVG. Putting C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe in all its exceptions lists, then deleting that sqlite folder one more time, seems to be fixing it reliably.

I also have one report that opting into the beta of the next launcher version 2022.1 helped.

All the best!

Just wanted to add, switching to beta worked for me too.

This issue popped up yesterday.
Today all my sprawl mitigation buildings disappeared.
I did NOT load the beta!!

I have now turned off all automatic update options.

I know programmers get irritated when user find a way to mod away a favorite feature, but users also get IRRITATED when features disappear with no warning in the middle of a game. And you need users to pay for upgrades....

And count this as an AVG bug report.

I'm afraid you'll need to lodge that with AVG! We don't get to log bugs with them.

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam
OR
- exit the Epic app entirely
- run EpicGamesLauncher.exe as the Windows Admin user
- run the game from the Epic client

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
