Two part problem, both occured at the same time, though, of course, each of which may or may not be related. This is with latest patch, directx, drivers etc.

Part One:

When trying to reload saves in multiplayer the sending process repeats over and over again.

Eg

1. Host has selected a save

2. I join and host receives the file compression message

3. file appears sent to me (counter goes to 100), normally I would see the flags etc but i dont see any change

4. the host receives another compression message, file appears sent to me (counter goes to 100)

5. Back to 3, this repeats endlessly.

Part Two

This is identical to Mr Gs' complaint.

When I try to load saved games I get errors like thise;
"--- ERROR: (Leader unexpected field) 'max?? skill = 3' Line 251682 file = scenarios\save games\[file name].eug ---
Do you still want o continue?"

{Cancel} {Try agin} {Ignore}

When I press one of the bottoms the game craches to Windows, no matter of which bottom I press.
If the game is saved on my 1st computor I can't be loaded on any other computor. If it is saved on any other computor (for eg. my laptop) and I tryes to load it on my 1st computor, errors like above occurs. Same file on my laptop however works :?

The part in bold is different for each different save I try to load ( I have tried about 5 or so) but it is always with the save game file and always has the same result.

This occurs if we send the save file from the host to me via an alternative pathway and I try and load the save.

Ok. The first problem is most likely caused by the presence, in your save game folder, of a save game file named identical to the one the host is trying to send to you, but with a different size, contents or time stamp. That means the file you received in-game can't be actually saved under that name. So, when both you and the host are trying to resync after the download, host still sees that you don't have the correct save game file, and tries to retransmit again.

Please check this, and if the file is present in your local save game folder, either delete it or rename it. Then try the joining again.

As for the second part, that's most likely a file content corruption somewhere. Hard to say exactly without more detailed information. For example, can you load/save without problems on your end. Can the host load/save without problems on his end?

I worked out whats wrong, both problems are related. Something goes wrong when sending files.

Your right clearing out the save game folder on both computers then putting the save back into the host fixed it. Further testing seems to indicate that the save file isnt sent properly so the save folder ends up with a small zip file in it. If you clean out the zip file and restart Doomsday it work properly.

The 2nd problem comes from the first, when it fails to send it properly it somehow manages to corrupt the save game on the host and ruins it permanently. This is the big crippler, as you dont know the problem is going to occur till it does and then the save is wrekced.

It seems to randomly happen to our games. We have resorted to the old doomsday method of transferring files manually rather then in game.

Ok. Glad the first problem is indeed cleared up as I had suspected.

As for the second problem. Have you checked out the other thread you yourself already referred to? Because random data file corruptions when driving your hard disk/IDE subsystem under full load is, alas, a very,very common problem on VIA chipsets + ditto VIA drivers.
