Okay first let me say all of you that take the time and energy to make mods for us are awesome and I, along with many others love you for the effort you put in.

I have a request and am wondering if anyone can help. I understand there is no way to have the game (at least yet) do random mechs for the start lance in career mode. You can manually assign mechs by doing a direct file change.

I am wondering if we could have a mod where the direct file change can be easily modded. Have the mod file list the mechs you can choose and with the base mechs shown but you can easily change them from the list.

there was a difficulty mod once that allowed one to choose the players starting mech but since 1.3 came out that part of it doesnt work any longer.

@UncleGamer i agree this would be a lovely mod especially if it could also take into account any mech mods one might have too

Roguetech starts with random mechs and one mech from your starting faction. Not sure if it can be adapted for base game though, since it depends on all the new factions and overhauled ballance to build somewhat ballanced starting lance. But it is definitely possible.

Cool - I wonder if the Rarity Tables could be leveraged in combination with this for Faction lances.

Would love to see Career mode mod that is stand alone and works like this. Tying this into JK Variants with the vanilla game and it would be awesome.

Most modders stick to the naming convention established by HBS, so you can edit Simgameconstants.json with a text editor. Format is mechdef_lowercasemechname_UPPERCASEMECHCODE. Like mechdef_urbanmech_UM-R60 in place of one of the starter mechdefs would let you start with a typical Urbie.

It works in the mode that does not have the Arano Restoration campaign. My wife and I started several new Flashpoint careers with the mod on, and it works. I have not tried it in the Arano Restoration campaign, so don't know about that.
