Some of the death events are a little too structured for my tastes- I really don't like the fact that I can go to war with SOV in 1940 and never have to worry about Ernst Udet offing himself, but if I invade in 1942, he's likely to do so before I reach Kiev, let alone Moscow.

The same goes for the ubiquitous 'General X dies in a car crash!' events- should the game account for every car or plane crash that doesn't necessarily occur under historical circumstances? I'd much prefer an increased chance of having a leader die in battle randomly, or at least introducing some degree of randomness into the existing death events.

Along the same lines, I think events need to be included that remove tech teams if their associated leader/minister dies randomly in battle.

Hi,

We pretty much decided that non-battle deaths would happen on a historical basis almost all of the time. This could be reviewed if the situation doesn't seem right, such as with Udet. Removing Teams due to battle deaths might get done in the future. OTOH, this causes a lot of balance issues so we'd have to be very careful.

I could see where losing an important doctrine researcher might be a game breaker... Maybe a backup team of lower skill could be created?

Udet stood out for me because the event text describes the Battle of Britain as being a major factor in his falling out with the Nazi leadership. I'd invaded England up to Edinburgh and had been at war with the USSR for less than two months when he died and took Molders with himl.

There already is - you get Galland when Udet (and Mölders) dies.

EDIT: But the triggers for his death could be reviewed and improved regardleess. I wrote that event to include some conditions to his death rather than just have a date, but I didn't factor in ahistorical scenarios such as Britain having fallen or a particuarly early or late Barbarossa.

The event for Udet has been reviewed, IIRC - it does have conditions for it to trigger. If you have taken London, for example, he won't go. You have to be at war with the USSR, and the war can't be going badly for Germany (as in Germany got attacked by the USSR, say, and has lost some of the east).
