Hello all, I am looking for a little help...

I really enjoyed the concept of CIM1...however the economic side of the game was a little to easy for me....I have not purchased CIM2 yet...can you guys tell me..is it harder to make money yet?? once you start making money do you ever worry about it again, or once it starts coming in it never stops? Also how is the time table part?? looks good, but just might make it too complicated..

thanks for your honest opinions...
Please no bashing the game for the sake of bashing it...only bash if it deserves it..

Once you make money in CiM2 you have won, there is no denying. However, if you set the difficulty to extreme and disable credits, it may be significantly harder. Additionally, you can tweak the game to be more of a challenge by using the ruleset options. For example you may make the metro and monorail more expensive, since especially these two modes of transportation normally give you a lot of revenue.
Timetables are quite easy to use, if you face any problem just search the forum or ask straight away. With normal speed (no ruleset used) the significance of timetables may be arguable and the easiest setting is to just use a different timetable for day/night. However, if you slow down the speed, timetables are perfect to push your transportation network to the next level :)
Please note that with normal speed long lines can easily have travel times of several hours. So focus on multiple short lines to effectively use timetables.

For more information, do not hesitate to ask.

personally, I somehow regret that I bought it.

I bought CiM2 like 5 months ago and played no longer than 20 hours since. I really like transportation tycoon games, but in my opinion CiM1 is times better than CiM2!

-no airports and railway stations
-cities look very monotonous, made with no love at all - every street looks the same
-very, very few purchasable vehicles
-the cities look sterile, like they are made out of plastic
-also, the cities are dead - there are no cars, no people on the street (even with population modifier 1000%)
-it is no longer fun to draw the bus lines - it turned into a "thing that has to be done" due to monotonous streets, dry schedule tool
-no crossed platform metro stations
-missing small details like in CIM1 you could see the people taking the escalator to the metro station - now they just "teleport"\
-no fan-made addons, which was basically the only reason I played it

In my eyes, the developers failed this one. I am back to traffic giant and CIM1.

Ok I know this sounds bad but I think i will stay with com 1 unless someone can give me some good reasons to buy 2.. the chat room is full of complaints and few approvals...I know the un happy are the loudest, however I fear this game will be a let down... not worth the 20$....

To be honest infant to buy this so I am hoping people will start to tell me the good, but again everyone on here seems to be pretty unhappy..

Sorry, but if you aren't certain about buying it, why do you want to be convinced by someone?

Just wait until the steam sales and pick it up when it's dirt cheap.

well, I´m one of the guys, who did NOT regret to buy CiM2. Personally i can´t go back to CiM1, because of one big feature: Timetables

I LOVE them. And i love the fact, that you can adjust every line and trying to build the perfect system. But it might be because of my own preferences, i don´t need fancy stuff like individual houses or pretty cities, for me the city is pretty, if the system works. Although there are some problems in the AI, but i learned to avoid them (DO NOT build to much points, where your Cims can change line, when the system is big, they will change every stop) or try to fix them (much of my earned money goes into building streets, so the traffic can flow and if there are jams because of strange AI behavior, i even rebuild large areas).

So for me there is one question, if I choose between CiM1 and CiM2: Do i want nice, sweet cities with lots of traffic jam and not much impact on your system (CiM1) or do I want huge random cities, which you can change, if there are strange problems and with lots of optimizing on your system (CiM2)?

For me the answer is always CiM2, I´ve already spent over 124h in the game.

So not everything is bad. Remember: Most of the people go to the forums, if they want to look for new things or (more often) if they have something to complain.
I recommend: If you have 20 bucks free, give it a try, but don´t stop, if there are some problems. With this money you will support a small team, who tried something. Otherwise wait for the next steamsale, in the wintersale it was reduced by 75% ;)

Greetings from Germany

Everybody has its own opinion of course, I understand this. However, I definitely have to react to these points I quoted from your post.
1. There are plenty of great custom made maps in the workshop, or other fan-websites like cimexchange.
2. This was not different in CiM1. Most vehicles are added by DLCs. And now there are quite a lot vehicles available. All DLCs are on sale often, so it is also quite cheap to get them if bought in the right moment.
3. This is just not true. When starting a new game, all buildings are empty (no inhabitants and no workers). However, at latest after 1 ingame week, the streets are full of pedestrians and cars!
4. There is no need for something like this because you can add stations wherever you want. In CiM1 this was necessary in order to be able to have 2 lines cross each other and also have the room to place a stop. In CiM2 this is not needed anymore, you can just place a stop and be happy with it!
5. Unfortunately I have to agree. It would be nice to have user made vehicles or buildings in the game. However with eis_os bundle patches and rulesets/maps I'm quite happy for now.

The other (non-quoted) points you mentioned are at least arguable. For example I also miss airports and railway stations, there is no denying. However, some other points are not as bad as you display them.
Of course I respect your opinion and I don't want to proselytize you to become a CiM2 fan or whatsoever. I just wanted to express my opinion on these points.

The last thing I want to add: I played CiM2 over 400 hours and I am still happy with it.
