Greetings everyone.
I have been talking with Maur, and we would like to start another good long term MP game. It will probably be a GC or AOE game, depending on which one is more prefered. The game time will be about 1-2 pm EST so both NA and Europeans will be able to make it. Right now we are looking for 6 more players or how many are interested. So if you would like to play a long term game, then please feel free to post here.


Rules for game:
Dedeicated players only. ( Make sure you want to play for the long haul)
Have ICQ or another way in which we can contact you
Have fun in the game. Please don't complain or quit when things don't always go your way.
Also state your connection speed. (For Host purposes only. WE DO NOT DISCRIMINATE AGAINST 56k PLAYERS.)

Ok, anyways remember lets have a nice clean game.
 
I would certainly be interested. I should properly admit up front that, while having logged thousands of hours against the AI, my multiplayer experience is limited to 2 players LAN.

To play I assume I’ll have to install ICQ? Can ICQ run concurrently with EUII? Do I need a clean install of EUII? (I currently have EEP installed; do I need to remove it?)

I live in Denmark but have a cable connection so that shouldn’t be a problem. (Except for me not getting any sleep but that's my problem I guess)

Mail me at ulver@ulver.dk I’ll install icq (or whatever you request) as needed.

OK. Got ICQ now as 162035137. Online pretty much constantly

I may be interested but can't start 'til 3EST. I'd prefer GC, and would see it through, if the playing schedule is doable for me. Mine's a cable hook up.

I don't have too much MP experience, although I've played single player alot. Still, you've got to get your butt kicked once or twice to learn, right?

My ICQ address is 161884788, although I've not been able to figure out how to send messages because of all the adds and "find a new friend" crap they've got on their program. E-mail is better, at nal5@cornell.edu
 
I'd like to try multiplayer but I don't know if I'd be dedicated, because it might not be fun.

Anyway how does it work? Do players spread out or cluster near each other. In the various other games I play I don't really like single player; I prefer the human experience, I probably will try to ignore the computer players as much as possible and focus on allying with and fighting human players.

What speed? What about pausing? Is there enough time to chat in game? Or is it too slow?

Quietus, are you sure it's your ICQ number? It displays someone called "fantasia...", i'm not sure if i want to add such person to my ICQ contacts :D;)

Hmmm. How sure are you that you won't quit after the first session, or something?

Anyway: Yes, ICQ can be run while running EU. We will probably play clean install, no EEP

Well, i don't know if you have to get your butt kicked to learn. Never hapenned to me:D

We will play some rasonable countries .plus-minus equal in strenght and expansion possibilites, ie-majors probably. And those in Europe, and relatively close to each other. Did i said majors?:D

Btw, if you haven't played MP yet, just drop into vnet, and try it. Find some players, host, or something. It's quite different from SP experience, you know ;)

ah, games are usually played at 1min=2months. So people who get bored easily (since there are often not a thing to do) aren't exactly the type who play MP...


EDIT/ah, yes. ICQ is essential. Especially when Vnet is down.
 
Ok people. It looks like we have enough players now to start the party (pauses for wild cheering).:D I was thinking that a Wednesday June 12, start would be good. At 3pm EST if it fits with everyone. I will try and get in touch with you via ICQ or E-mail just incase no one checks this thread again.


EDIT: thanks Maur for reminding me I left out the EST.

Is EST on daylight savings time?
 
EST is -5 hours on GMT.
And we're still looking for players. We played over 2 hours and the game never crashed today! And not only that, but we were on vnet and were constantly chatting in game (3 players, one from Warsaw, Toronto and Seattle) :eek:

Basically if you are dedicated (not as in nazi dedicated but that you will show up when you say you will and will not quit due to unfortunate events in game) come join us.
I believe only France, Austria and Spain are being used at the moment, Poland, England, Sweden and many more (I think even Ottomans) are intact, we're at about 1540. Europe is still a complete mess and it's not completely anyone's game on the mainland yet, though North America is almost completely colonized (I think South America too, damn Spaniards kicked my poor Austrians out of Argentina! My only colony!) :D
 
1540? Wow, you must have started in 1492 right? Sorry I couldn't make it. I explained it to Maur. Besides how really wants a 56k man in there game. I would have just made you crash during that time:(

Heh... well, there are few provinces still uncolonized in America, even on the coast (guyana comes to mind), but it won't last long. Basically, everything south of Qebec and great lakes is Spanish or Portuguese.

Oh yes, and i became BB again:eek:
Could someone explain to me how one does accumulate human BB points?:D

Anyway, too bad Gilgame left.... though his France was indeed in sorry position.
 
This is embarrassing. I showed up but may have joined the wrong game. I looked for BUB but since he wasn’t there I assumed I must have misunderstood something. We played a very stable game with no crashes with Spain, France, Austria and Portugal in play. Got to 1500 because we started late but was very enjoyable. We’ll resume tonight around 1130 CET (13 June) in Vent. Feel free to join us. The game is still open I managed to prevent excessive AI-bashing even if England lost a province to Spain.
