Hi

First of all, I apologize for my English. Maybe someone will be able to help me with the following problem. I´m playing armaggedon with the mod33 in the 1933-64 darkest years scenario.I don´t know to defeat Soviet playing as Germany. I´ve searched the forums for strategies and advice but I still can´t. My problem is that when Soviet somewhere between late 41 and early 42 declares war on me I don´t have enough troops. It doesn´t matter if I´ve conquered or allied myself to half of Europe, it doesn´t matter if I´ve researched everything needed to boost my economy and to keep my troops up to date. By late 41-early42 I usually have about 50 land divisions (12-16 motorized, 9-12 panzers, 30 regular infantry) and 24 air divisions (12 TAC/CAS and 12 fighters). I´ve even researched paratroops and transport planes to finish encirclement movements as I read in the forums but I mean, I can´t even encircle them with so few troops to begin with ( Soviet fields 150-200 divisions )and I often see 10-40 Russian divisions in a single province. I don´t stand a chance. I´ve also tried different alliance policies to see if Soviet doesn´t attack or does so later in the game but it hasn´t helped. I also tried to leave Poland alone to avoid war in the west and to prepare for the Russian campaign but Soviet attacks Poland late 41-early 42 and then me so I don´t get any more time.

And by the way, the game jumps from 1933 to 1935 as soon as I start playing the scenario, and yes, I tried to apply the no-time-limit patch that comes with the mod33 but it didn´t work. Can somebody please tell me if it´s possible to fix this annoying start date problem in one of the game files or something? Thank you.

I've been playing mod 33 long time ago, and the best way to beat soviet union as germany is still to build tanks, a lot of them. Also build IC until atleast 38, to be able to have a enough-strong industrial base to be able to build enough land troops, tanks and airforce.
If you don't build IC, then no wonder why you lose

50 land divisions is not enough. You need wayy more infantry. For example if you've got 100 land divisions, you need to have around 80 infantry, and the rest of panzers.

Main issue to me seems to be the loss of 2 years of game time. Fix that and you should have long enough to build up properly. Once you have a decent army, simply follow the German war objectives of RL without falling into the traps that Hitler did.

thank you for your answers. I do think that the date bug is killing my chances to defeat Soviet but I must admit that I haven´t been building IC cause I read that the more you build the more resources you need and that it was far more effective to improve the efficiency of your ICs with research instead of building new ICs. BTW I know that 50 land divisions are not enough but I couldn´t manage to produce more in time for the war! I´ll try the approach of building ICs until at least 38, I´ll have to trade for resources like a mad man though.

I have 500 IC now but I only managed to have 100 divisions due to a lack of manpower. It wasn´t enough to stop the Russians... Is there anyway besides events, sliders and technology to get more manpower?

Your English is Excellent! I haven't played Mod 33 in years (Now play WiF but soon to move on to DH) so I really can't give too much advice as it relates to the Mod. But it does sound like you may need to reinstall it. I do remember having to reinstall it a couple of times. Here's the proper order: To install the mod (for DD) install first v1.3 then install no time limit path then install the add-on v1.33

As far as German strategy, like others have suggested, you'll need a lot more armor and Infantry and definitely some motorized/Mech. You really have to build up your IC and trade trade trade for whatever resources you need. Don't be afraid of trading with the Soviet Union before the war, they're one of your best trading partners. Also, I would forget about using paratroopers for encirclements, especially if you have armor and enough motorized/mech units. In the winter, you can use your armor as a mobile defense to shore up areas that the Soviets are attacking. You really want to limit your attacks in the winter and hold the Dneipper River line unless you've made it further.

On a final note, I'm not too sure about your strategy of waiting for the SU to declare war on you first. I know that in WiF, Germany receives a lot of benefits from the Barbarossa event while SU receives a lot of penalties. Is this true in Mod33 too?

Good luck!
