I downloaded and installed demo, and there's a message:

A required security module can not be activated.
This program can not be executed (7000).

In the header of the message box, text reads: TC2M TC2M - No Protection

What's happening?

Edited your thread title, for a moment there I thought you were going to ask some philosophical question...

(For those wondering, the original title was "Why?")

German or English?

It reads like a SecuROM issue. You might try their support for this one. We have no messages like that. If it is SecuROM they'll just tell you to make sure that nothing else is running on your computer, etc. I'm not sure what causes these issues, but there are a handfull of people that get them.

English.
And how to contact SecuROM guys?

EDIT: Ok, I sent them e-mail.

Thanks.

Guys from SecuROM fixed their part of my problem, but now game stops responding during the "initializing" screen. When I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del I get Not Responding status. When I end task, I receive the information that nonresponsive program actually was "War3D Real Time War Game Engine by Norb Timpko". Does this means that my display adapter is too weak, or something else is going on?

My PC:

Intel P4 1.80 GHz
512 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440
Realtek AC'97 Audio
LG DVD ROM HL-DT-ST GDR8161B
Windows XP Version 5.1 Service Pack 2

Zaki, how did you get past the initial error. I am having the same problem with the demo.

I have nothing running other than base windows services when I try to start up, but I get an identical error.

My initial problem solved guys from SecuROM. They asked me for analysis file, wich can be obtained by right-clicking on the desktop shortcut (or application exe) and choosing "Launch Analysis" from the menu. Their first advice was to deactivate emulation tool like virtual cd-hide or anti-blaxx. That wasn't enough, however, and thay asked another analysis file. Then they concluded that my registry entries are tampered by some of this emulation tools, and sugested to me following procedure:
- Download and install tool called SubInACL from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E8BA3E56-D8FE-4A91-93CF-ED6985E3927B&displaylang=en. Recomended installation path is C:\Windows
- Download batch file, or even better, VB-Script from their site http://www.securom.com/support/fixreg.vbs
- Under an user account with administrator rights double-click (start) the downloaded ‘fixreg.vbs’ or ‘fixreg.bat’.

And that was it. Now I still can't start the demo (it blocks during initialization), but I'll try on lap-top as soon as I get USB stick big enough.
I hope that I answered your question.

No need. I transfered demo to lap-top and it works fine. Thanks, anyway.

Thanks, I don't have any emulation software and Bull Run still runs.

I don't want to run any 3rd party script on my registry, so I'll probably skip the game if this is the case.

We have all the info on exactly what SecuROM does on our boards. If you have questions, it's all there exposed, as well as how to remove every trace of the thing.

Norb, thanks for the info. I read the info on your boards, and many thanks for seeking out and getting answers from the Securrom.

However, I have no wish to run a script delivered by the same people who mistakenly detect non-existant software, and allow it to "tidy" my registry. I have a bunch of external drives and mapped home network drives on this PC, and after looking at the script, I'm not 100% sure it's not going to try and erase entries. The only fix securrom appear to be offering in this case is to run the script, and I am not willing to take that risk.

I appreciate the effort you folks have made to get answers, and the way you've presented it to everyone, and wish you best of luck with the game.
