After German success in Afrika during the Weltkrieg, a big chunk of the Ententes colonies in Afrika were taken over by the Germans. In 1925, these states were united into the Freistaat Mittelafrika. A nation that by most people was considered a big, weak lackey of Germany. They were all wrong, though, very wrong...

DER MITTELAFRIKANER - A KAISERREICH AAR

Yo, this is my second AAR, I felt like doing something with Kaiserreich, so I thought why not Mittelafrika? I will try to expand Mittelafrika as much as possible, both inside Africa and beyond. The only cheats I use are Nofog, Norevolts as well as acceptall if an ally occupies one of "my" provinces during a war :)

So, time to begin!

1st January, 1936

goring.jpg

Hermann Göring, the Statthalter of Freistaat Mittelafrika, sat in a couch in his palace in Togoland, drinking some tea. After being appointed Statthalter Göring had seen his opportunity to grasp power and he has ruled Mittelafrika in an extremely autocratic manner, treating it as his own playground. But by time his intentions grew more serious, and today he is bent on turning Mittelafrika into a force to be reckoned with.

This very day was the time to discuss political changes and research priorities among other things in the nation. Göring rose up from the couch and walked into his Sitzung Zimmer, there all of the ministers were assembled at a long table. Göring sat down at the far end of the table and looked at his ministers. He asked everyone to introduce themselves and inform him of the current political situation in the country (Herr Göring can get a little forgetful when he has had too much Jägermeister)

ScreenSave27.jpg

(I do not know why Görings portrait has disappeared, the same has happened with La Platas leader)

- "I do not feel it is necessary to replace any of the current ministers", he said, and a great sigh of relief was heard from all the men seated at the table. "Hmpf," Göring continued, "does anyone have a proposal how to advance politically?"
- "I do, herr Statthalter." von Ribbentrop said, "It would be beneficial to become more interventionist if we want to expand our nation and become more independent"
- "I like the sound of that, Herr Ribbentrop. Proposal accepted. Now, how about our research... ?"

ScreenSave26.jpg

- "It seems we are researching basic machine tools to improve our industry, very well, I see no reason not to continue", Göring said. "As there seems to be no more issues at hand, the meeting is now dismissed. Remember that if I want to make any decisions you are merely here to advice me, all of Mittelafrika, no, MORE than Mittelafrika is under my command! I can promise all of you that soon, great things will happen to our little "puppet" nation! Auf Wiedersehen!"

Ambitious Goering !
I wonder who will be the first victim of his ambitions.
Subscribed.

Indeed. I played a game as Mittelafrika a few months ago where I became a more useful ally to Germany than anyone else, conquering Italy from the south and eventually helping them smash through France and Britain. If you play your cards right and annex the right countries and territories you can really be a regional and international powerhouse.

Zeldar155 & Meadow: OK, I've never played as Mittelafrika before so I didn't know that, but I'll try to make something different...

May 23, 1936

Göring sat down in his couch and relaxed while one of his servant polished his shoes. Göring asked one of his servants to bring him Herr Ribbentrop, who arrived in the room a few minutes later.
- "Herr Ribbentrop, give me a full briefing of what has happened these months."
- "Well..."

"Germany has been giving us a lot of blueprints, the Commune of France has held a huge congress with all of their syndicalist allies, Germany continues their naval construction, the Commune also has been very close in declaring war against the Vaterland but seemingly didn't, and a new best-seller has been released; Mein Kampf."

"Yes yes, I know that, I've read it already. That's some great stuff. Anyway, you are dissmissed."

August 23, 1936

A servant stormed into Görings office, shouting his name. Göring was reading the newspaper and said" Yes, yes, what is it?"

ScreenSave38.jpg

Göring rose up from his chair at once. "Yes! Yes!" he shouted, and finished with "Give me a direct line to Berlin."

"And now, my brave soldiers, CHARGE!"

ScreenSave41.jpg

Imperial Abyssinnia was rapidly annexed by Mittelafrika, but this didn't satisfy Göring. He couldn't strike yet, though, not yet. In the meantime he asked the Germans about buying some ships to expand his navy, and this request yielded positive results.

January 1st, 1937

Just as last year Göring sat down at the table with the same ministers as last year. Herr Ribbentrop once again suggested a more interventionist policy, which was accepted once again. For research Mittelafrika had researched a lot of basic technology in the infantry and industrial department thanks to blueprints from the Vaterland. Another big question was raised, though, what about the horn of Africa? Göring said in a few days he would have the solution.

January 3, 1937

ScreenSave48.jpg

The rest of the day Göring just looked like this: :D

February 27, 1937

ScreenSave52.jpg

This war had been a huge military success for Mitteleuropa, as German aircraft had completely destroyed the Ethiopian army.

Göring then called another meeting with his cabinet.

Herr Ribbentrop quickly asked him; "What will our next target in Africa be? Egypt, South Africa... ?"
"Who said it has to be in Africa?" Göring answered, "Gather our resources!"

ScreenSave53.jpg

And what possible use could Göring have for a province at the end of the Arabian peninsula?
Well, of course...

ScreenSave55.jpg

Mittelafrika expanded and everything seemed fine and dandy, meanwhile the situation in Europe was worsening.

ScreenSave56.jpg

First of all, what is this red dot in Afrika? Disgusting, Göring says! And war has started in Europe too; Greece, Serbia and Romania formed an alliance and attacked Albania as well as the German friend Bulgaria! This quickly followed a declaration of war from Germany against these pathetic states. But what would seem to be only a small war...

ScreenSave60.jpg

Crap.

EDIT: More!

What followed this declaration of war would be a big series of unfortunate events but is it a chance there are some good ones? Who knows...

ScreenSave61.jpg

The union of Britain joins the communist bandits, this forces Mittelafrika to watch their borders as they are (at least for me) infamous of taking big parts of Afrika... Luckily my (small) navy and many German ships patrol my coastlines.

ScreenSave62.jpg

Ah, there seems to be SOME light in this perilous tale, as our Austrian ally calls to arms against the French foe. Soon they joined Mitteleuropa and everyone was happy.

ScreenSave63.jpg

... Except Flandern-Wallonien. As you can see now the French are making advances into Mitteleuropa, which is both good and bad for our "hero" Herr Göring. Germany is Mittelafrikas strongest ally, yet if they were defeated we could be released from their shackles? Also, after this UoB declared war on Denmark and the Entente declared war on the Internationale.

ScreenSave66.jpg

And now the Austrian soldiers seems to have reached the front lines to help Germany, and... Baltic soldiers have taken Brussel! Whoo! Maybe they will manage to keep it a day or so!

ScreenSave68.jpg

The Swiss fall and the Italian attack-, wait, France borders Austria!?

A new Weltkrieg in 1937, pretty surprising !

Nice to see a Mittelafrika AAR, KR truly does include a huge number of interesting nations to play as. I imagine the war breaking out in 1937 must have derailed your plans slightly, are you going to or can you do much to help Germany at this point?

Zhuge Liang: I'm not really in the position to help Germany right now, so I'm mainly waiting out the war. If France wins, I will be released from Germany and most likely try to make some sort of temporary peace-agreement with the Internationle, if Germany wins I will have to something interesting, what I have not decided yet though.

January 1st, 1938

This year the annual meeting was different. The political changes and technological advances was quickly shoved aside for the most important issue; the war. Göring was very anxious.
"My friends..." he said, "it doesn't seem like we can keep up our plan to expand our nation, as we are forced to take a defensive position due to the risk of amphibious assaults as well as the Portugese issue not being solved yet. For now, let us just keep an eye on Europe."

ScreenSave73.jpg

Right now it is pretty even and both are pretty much on the same level. France holds Flandern in an iron grip whilst Germany seems to have conquered the Swiss. France has also made advances in Italy.

ScreenSave72.jpg

For some odd reason (well, Germany guaranteed Russian independence and Don-Kuban DoW:ed them), Germany decided to take up arms against the Don-Kuban Union. This seems very foolish as all troops possible should be fighting for the Vaterland on the western front, but it seems Germany thinks they can handle the situation.

Apri - Mayl

ScreenSave74.jpg

Whoa, as all of the Austrian army was fighting in the west, French forces pushed through to Venice and are now approaching an unguarded Vienna! Meanwhile, German forces are making a minor breakthrough on the front, but in the east...

ScreenSave76.jpg

The Don-Kubans are defeated. Will this allow Germany to send troops to the west for a decisive breakthrough!?

ScreenSave77.jpg

And now the front has tipped into a German favour, possibly because of military success in the east. The French are pushed westwards in the Italian theatre as well. Yet the German army in Compiègne is surrounded and crushed, allowing the French to...

June - July

ScreenSave79.jpg

France seems to have gotten up on its feet again, even though the Germans has pushed forward a bit on the Swiss front. The French has made minor advances into Italy (who occupy all of the Sicilies except... Sicily).

ScreenSave80.jpg

Then news reached the Togoland palace that communist forces has landed in Afrika! Luckily the northwest is far from Mittelafrikan territory, but this is worrisome nonethless.

ScreenSave81.jpg

ScreenSave82.jpg

And now France has pushed Mitteleuropean forces back on almost every front, even going as far as to occupy the Croatian province of Rijeka.

August - Time for some action!!

Göring once again called for a huge meeting in his palace. All ministers, military commanders and other important people in the nation were present. "It is time for action, my friends." Göring said. He spread out a map on a table and showed it to everybody.
"But Herr Göring..." a representative from Berlin said, "Here in the south, is this some kind of a printing error... ?"

ScreenSave83.jpg

Acguy - Out of curiosity, what version of KR are you using? Is it v1.1, or is it the latest beta of v1.2? I ask because if it is the latter, I would be interested in any feedback on bugs/improvements. :)

Poor South Africans, they didn't deserved that. :D
Well it will make a nice addition to the growing Mittelafrikaner Empire. Something like 10 or 15 more IC ?

Basically, it's simple. Germany loses and you are the prime location to set up a German Empire in exile. So, it would be best to end the war with South Africa quickly, and then focus on keeping France off Germany. Cause if they lose, I think you lose too, or did I miss something?

To answer the question about annexation, there is an event where the German government evacuates to Mittelafrika if France occupies the German mainland. You will get a chance to refuse though.

Nice AAR BTW :D.

isn't there a choice in that event (if germany loses & wants to get exiled to mittelafrika)
I always thought it was a multi-choice event,
look in the game files for confirmation!

EDIT: Dutchie up there confirms my point, you got a choice not to be annexed:)

Well Germany seems to be doing alright at least, good thing the chaos of the war gives you free reign in Africa. And there shouldn't be a problem even if Germany loses, you can refuse to be annexed by them if that event pops up.

Puh, that is a relief. But I don't think the Germans will lose, they seem to have the advantage.

October - December

ScreenSave85.jpg

The situation now seems more stable in Mitteleuropean favor, France has retaken Switzerland but Mitteleuropa seems to have control on the main and Danubian front.

ScreenSave86.jpg

In South Afrika things also look positive, the South Africans don't put up much resistance, but in northern Africa...

ScreenSave87.jpg

Damn! I don't like the look of this... This is indeed troubling but there is also light;

ScreenSave89.jpg

Woohoo! Doesn't look like they will be able to keep it long, though... =/

ScreenSave91.jpg

Well, that's what you get for improving your coastal defence...

January 1939

This years annual meeting was also a very short one, mainly because there had already been a meeting the year before in August. The main issue was South Africa; they offered us a peace yet Göring refused. Mittelafrika will not have any Afrikan puppets; Mittelafrika IS Afrika!

ScreenSave93.jpg

And now the IC, resources and awesome tech teams of South Afrika are a part of our nation. This is so far the most rewarding annexation yet. The coastal forts they built could also be useful. But meanwhile, in Europa...

ScreenSave95.jpg

Crap! Oh well, it could have been worse... What is Germany doing? D:

ScreenSave96.jpg

Well, now THIS looks more like it! But... wait... NO!

ScreenSave97.jpg

Also, the Commune has made amphibious attacks and has reclaimed parts of the Sicilies D: This war has been going on for a year now, and it is still very even (all other times I've played one of the nations has run over the other one... But still the war has never started this early for me)
