Hi all!

My name is Kim Soares, lead designer at Nitro Games.

I'm just leaving for GDC, but wanted to quickly say hi to all the people here. I'm delighted that everyone seems to be exited about Paradox signing EIC. I know I am, because we could not have hoped for better suited publisher for EIC than Paradox.

I'll do my best to make a contribution to this forum and engage in active conversation.

Until next time!

Welcome to Paradox Forums!

I just relocated from the lighthouse forum. I'm extremely pleased that you could make this decision, as Paradox is an ideal partner. Strategy gamers will now really have something to look forward to. Looks ideal for anyone who passed over ETW.

Hurray for the devs!

I hope the game will feature a dynamic trading system, with prices varying based on supply and demand, and trade goods would be produced more if raw materials need for their manufacturing are available, cities flourishing if high trade is done there and prices are low . Also I hope we’ll see pirates from East Asia to the Caribbean. And please don’t forget to make as many aspects of the game moddable as it greatly increases the game value. Cheers!

I concur. It came up in another forum that there should be Ottomans too.

And yes, hopefully with the new publisher, there will be a new policy towards modding. Which could make a huge difference for the reception in the large naval communities, like subsim.com

Welcome Kim, and we are all looking forward for this great game :)

The game looks promising, although perhaps a bit too much tactical naval warfare to my taste. Hopefully it will be possible to enjoy the game focusing more on peacefull expansion and warfare on strategic level.

Nevertheless, Paradox is a natural partner with Gamersgate. Hopefully you won't be too ambitious with pricing, but build up userbase to later create an expansion where Arabs are playable...

Please don't make an arcade game like ETW or the Akella games.

Ideally EIC would be a game with realistic tactical combat (think Age of Sails) and accurate sail navigation (prevailing winds, monsoon system, trade winds, westerlies, etc)

With a "career" mode that have a dinamic trade system, some role playing elements, ship upgrade/ purchase, crew management

please keep us posted

Nice to see dev coming in here. I always like to see devs participate in conversations regarding their games, and as this is one of my most often visited forums I'm glad that you have decided to come in here. Hopefully we get to hear some cool stuff. :)
