Diocese Bishops

What do they do?

Most games see some pretty long periods were you have no Diocese Bishop but I can't seem to figure out if there are any negative sideffects tp this (aside from the annoying box in the corner of the screem).

Does anyone know?

If they have a good education and more than DIP 7, they have a positive effect on any ecclesiastical educated kids at court.

They also act as triggers to certain event, and as modifiers to a whole lot of events.

They usually have positive effects, but if you have lots of non-catholics in court or as advisors, maybe leaving the office empty is best. They have a nasty tendency to want to burn your quite capable non-catholic advisors at the stake.

If I remember correctly they can also do peaceful religious conversions to provinces, and help remove provincial heresies.
