I am not a big fan of screen edge scrolling. It's annoying. Is there a way to disable it?

I must admit I don't like it either. I've got 3 monitors and moving the mouse far left/right to scroll is problematical.
But my biggest complaint is that the "edge" for scrolling down seems to be half on top of the pause/play/FF buttons. So if I want to pause using the mouse, often times I end up scrolling down while I'm trying to click on that little round button. It's annoying.
