Disappearing MP messages

Yesterday in a MP over VNet, I received messages from only one player, which made me wonder. Later, after a crash, I was told by the other players, that it was just me who couldn't read what the others wrote and that this was a common bug.

Since I've never encountered it before, though, I'd like to hear if that is true and if it is triggered by anything particular?

We play a lot of mp - although lan only - but I have never experienced this. Maybe they just didnt click correctly to mark to whom they want to send / not send messages?
