I've encountered this twice, both times in a very annoying situation. Both times my unit was attacking an empty enemy province and got attacked itself from another direction, it lost the battle and disappeared... There was a friendly province to retreat to. Is this a bug?
No idea. But if you think you have found a bug, and have a save game at hand that reliably (as in: repeatedly) can demonstrate this, please submit it as per stickied instructions. Thank you.
