hello, everyone.

i'd like to discuss a little thing regarding the daimyo titles.

i think it should have a different effect than giving the option to get vassals.

you might ask why.

well, i was playing a kokujin a couple of times, but things were a bit tricky, because, even though my clan [i was playing Oda Nobuyuki at the time in case you're curious, i started as nobunaga, made him give nobuyuki a kokujin title then switched to nobuyuki] was winning, we took big chunks of Ise, Mino, Shinano and Echizen provinces, even got some parts of Omi province.

but, Nobunaga remained the only one with a Daimyo title. now you can imagine the amount of kokujin titles that meant he had at his disposal, and to make it worse he had to distribute them and all of his vassals ended up having 5 titles, and so did i, but i was using the old way of initiating a siege to acquire my kokujin titles/land.

now that meant:

1- nobunaga ended up having over 20 vassals

2- I was forced to NOT start any sieges, why? i'll get over my demense size, and i can't grant my vassals any title.

i think the daimyo titles should have different effects, what i have in mind is:

1- increase the three traits [diplomacy, war, intrigue] of your character by two

2- increase all three traits of his retainers [master of ceremonies, guard, arms] by 1

3- add one retinue size to your character, so if you can have 4 retinues, having a daimyo title adds one to that, making it 5

one thing that's making it hard to get Daimyo titles is that you have to take all 100% of a province. and Often, you have other Clans joining the fray when you try to attack someone so you don't have all the kori in it, and thus, the title is lost and none gets it.

so i think we need a better method for that, this was my idea, if anyone's got another idea, please, do share

I would like to see a retinue increase for each Daimyo title, Clan leader title, and in addition to that for an Independent Clan leader title. I believe that each Daimyo title should also bring with it some monthly honor.

A Kukojin should be able to have vassals, not just a Daimyo. A Kukojin with vassals should get a title change to (Shugo/Shugodai). This would allow a Kukojin with more than 5 kori to give a province to a vassal. The Shugo title should give honor each month at a rate less than Daimyo. The Shugo should be more likely to be promoted to Daimyo and should give an extra bonus to relations with the clan leader once the title is given or an extra malus to the clan leader if he denies a request for a title.

This would add to the heirarchy structure in the game so that the order is: Clan leader => Subject clan leader => Daimyo => Shugo/Shogudai => Kukojin

I would also like to change the revoke title so that a clan leader can request a province from a Daimyo that is owned by one of his subjects. This diplomatic action should either be directed at the Daimyo or at the subject. If the kori does not belong to the titled kuni of the Daimyo, the chances of acceptance should be raised significantly.

Change that to 'The chances of acceptance should be raised accordingly to the number of koris the daimyo owns in the kuni'. Otherwise that might make some odd ratios where damiyos owns more koris in a kuni they're not the daimyo of.

Do that and I'm on line with your train of thought. ^^

Don't you automatically earn the daimyo title if you own all the kori in a kuni? Or does that always pass by you to your clan leader? I figured the clan leader was getting it because no one kokujin gained possession over the entire kori in the course of the war.

I'm not trying to discount what's being said. I'm just curious about how the daimyo title gets awarded initially.

basically if a certain clan gains control of all the kori in the kuni, the leader gets the Daimyo title, even if he has no kori in the said kuni, but he can grant it to vassals, or a vassal demand/request to be awarded the said daimyo title

edit: forgot to mention that, so far, i was never able to demand a daimyo title since it needs to fire in an event, and i said earlier, my so far only kokujin game ended up in a frustrating manner.

i'll try again some other time, hopefully i'll get the event to fire for me

edit 2:

on a totally side note, regarding the ninja clans being unable to receive land, why not make it like this:

you hire a certain clan, they do the job right, or you're just pleased with them, you grand ONE of them a land, meaning, the entire clan is still a ninja, but you granted one member of the clan land, you gain a positive relations with the clan, meaning it's a bit easier to get them to do jobs for you, and you'd get some sort of discounts when hiring them sometimes, not all the times, since they do need to be paid, and aren't as often as willing as to do jobs targeting you
