Display screen setting - help required please

Hello, just installed Surviving Mars, well not 'just' anymore, and cannot get the game to run where i want it to on my second (larger) monitor.
I have tried all the usual tricks to fix it to the other monitor as there is no option to discern them in game, but regardless of whatever i try it always jumps to display 1 when i hit apply on the display select.
It will recognise the new max res available when i window it and drag it to the other monitor, so the game is correctly identifying the screen, but the apply button just forces it to regress to the first monitor.

It is rather infuriating, can anyone shed any light on how i cab force it to use the correct monitor?

Have you tried setting it to windowed, moving the window to the 2nd screen and then changing it to exclusive or borderless

Yes thanks, as detailed. tried all the tricks that usually work, including running from 2nd display start menu, even tried forcing with steam run commands, but no matter what when that apply button is pressed, as I'd have to to change to borderless or exclusive, it reverts.
