Doesn't get the game working CTD immediatly

Hi!
I have a serious problem with my Victoria. I have installed victoria (revolutions) and havn't had any problems at all during the installation. But when I start Ricky it just crashes back to desktop.

It is downloaded right from gamersgate and installed at default settings and in default directory. I have windows xp home edition and I'm using a lenovo Ideapad s10e. I also have this game installed on my desktop computer back home and there I have no problems at all running the game.

So the question is, does anyone have any idea of what might be wrong and/or what could be done?

It's the video player that comes with the game. All you need to do is stop this pesky thing from trying to run. Couple of ways of doing this come immediately to mind. I typically rename the avi folder to avi.old or whatever. Other folks like to rename the binkplay.exe. Either will do the trick.

There may be other ways of fixing the problem but I can't think of them, other than just deleting everything in the avi folder as well as the folder itself. Being an old IT engineer, I hate deleting files, though. I remember the day when deleting files was a permanent solution.o

Of course, it is possible that the problem is elsewhere. Probably not, but if this fix doesn't work, I'll be at a loss.

It apperars as if the error unfortunatly is located elsewhere. I've had the bink error before so that was one of the first things I tried in the torubleshooting. It is when Victoria itself starts to load that the game crashes (I don't even get to the initial loadingscreen).

I've also tried reinstalling several times but with no result

The game won't run at any resolution lower than 1024x768. Is there some setting on your netbook to allow you to run at a higher resolution than the display supports, using the display as a viewport?
