Domination of the Draka mod for Darkest Hour 1.05.1

The Domination of the Draka is an alternate history series by S. M. Stirling. I'm not really a fan of the books, but the Draka make a good basis for a game with some really bad guys to fight against, for those who want a change from just fighting the Germans and Japanese.

http://users.accesscomm.ca/geis/draka/index.html

"Beginning in the rich subcontinent of South Africa, the people calling themselves the Draka - disaffected refugees from the American Revolution - first forged an empire of inconceivable wealth and savagery, founded on conquest and slavery. Spanning the whole of the African continent, the Great War of the early twentieth century gave it much of Asia as well. Then in the Eurasian War, Germany and the Soviet Union exhausted one another and the Draka stepped in, leaving the Domination triumphant from the English Channel to the China Sea. Only America and its allies stands between the Draka and their dream of an enslaved planet. By the 1990s the Draka commanded the stuff of life itself, mastering biotechnology until they could create new species at will - and transform themselves into the Master Race of their savage dreams. Meanwhile the Alliance for Democracy travelled another path, into the mysteries of the physical universe and the knowledge to be gained there. The final confrontation would settle which was the more powerful ...or it would leave the earth a lifeless rock on which nothing human remained but bones."

This builds on gianlucad's mod for Darkest Hour 1.04.

Wow, this looks really nice. I like the new Draka flag. And if I remember from the book, Marching through Georgia, they had a very hard fight against the Ottomans

Wonderful work on the Mod so far, but I have a couple of questions

-Will there be any events in the MOD that allow to nations to react to/prepare for the Draka threat? (I know that did not happen in the books, but in this universe, some sort Anti-Draka pact seems to make a lot more sense than an anti-Comintern pact, and I think there could be a lot of fun in preparing for the Black Wave. )

-What year is the war supposed to start? Its 1938 in my Italy game and all nations are sitting passively.

-Would I have permission to copy that Bomber-dirigible unit for a different mod I've been contributing to? (see my signature for details) I feel like it could really contribute the alt 19'th century feel of that scenario.

This is a good idea. I'll work on it.

Germany should invade Czechoslovakia in 1936 or 1937. Tell me if this doesn't happen.

Germany invades Poland in 1939, France in 1940, and Russia in 1941, as in our timeline.

The Draka invade Germany in 1943, instead of 1942, to be more realistic.

Yes, you may.

It seems that everything is working as intended then

Hello. I've uploaded a new version of the mod. I've added the change you suggested as well as some other changes such as an improved map. Unfortunately, saved games from the old version will not be compatible. Also, the new version isn't that thoroughly tested yet, and so I expect there will be still be errors and omissions at this point. Could you try it out for me and tell me what you think? Do let me know if anything isn't working as expected.

So I'm testing out the new mod.

In your opinion, How difficult was it to upgrade the mod the E3 map? Did you have to go through every event and entry in the revolt text and change the countries manually?

The countries in the revolt text were already upgraded, but of course I had to upgrade the events. This took some work.

The story sounds like a Star Wars cliche, but it's whatever.

The game itself is really impressive, but it seems like it'll be a very easy campaign. Two things I want to address before starting into it, is that Italy's troops are placed in Africa as it were historical, in Libya or near there, and in Eritrea. I didn't unpause, so maybe they'll get strategically deployed back to Italy. The other thing, is that Sri Lanka has no supply depot set up, so the game will start with soldiers dying of famine and attrition, something that irks me about other mods, like Kaiserreich. I'd like to know how to add them into the map, so I can alleviate this. Thanks for the cool mod!

Thanks for pointing out these issues. I'll look into them.

That supply thing is something I want to find out about so I can tweak other mods. I'll go ask in the modding help forum.

It's an interesting mechanic, the supply shipping. Looking at DH Full, and starting Great Britain, a depot in Alexandria has 5 supply and 5 oil, and the other ports in West Africa begin with 2 supply for the tiny garrisons there. After two weeks letting it run, the oil was moved out of Alexandria for whatever reason, and Freetown was loaded up with a 45 stockpile of oil, perhaps for the ten or so heavy cruisers stationed there since the beginning.

Sri Lanka will probably need 10 supply and 5 oil as a start, that should be more than enough until the shipping lanes get back in gear. I also just noticed that the UK has some ships in port at Sri Lanka, so there's that.

Oh, cool! I had posted this as your post showed up.
