Doomsday not installed on your computer?

Hello. I am having a problem trying to patch DD or HOI2. Whenever I try to run a patch, it starts up the installation wizard thing, then a message pops up that says something to the effect of "HOI2/Doomsday is not installed on your computer." I know they are installed, I play them all the time . I am running Windows XP. What could be causing this? Do I need to put the patch in a certain place for it to run?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh... I have the box version with the CD and am trying the patches that say they are for the box version.

There are some peoples that have problems.

do you use the no time limit mode or other hacks that change or replace the exe?

The best solution is to uninstall both dd and HOI2. Reinstall DD and patch it, Then reinstall HOI2 and patch it. Read the sticky how to uninstall.

it is a fresh install on my brand new computer , but I'll try that later this week if I ever get some spare time.

I think I might have found my problem... When I was trying to uninstall it, looking at the sticky...

"You have to manually delete a key in your registry. You do that by starting regedit (Start => Run => regedit => Enter) and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Paradox Interactive" and delete the Hearts of Iron key. It looks like a folder in regedit.(If you have applied more than one Patch then there might be more than one key). If you are nervous about editing the Registry then get someone to do it for you. However if you only delete the above key(s) no harm will be done."

There is no Paradox Interactive folder in my regedit thingy. Could this explain why the patch thinks DD is not installed on my computer? If so does anyone know how I can fix it?

I just did the manual uninstall (minus the editing of the registry because it was already gone) and did a reinstall... It now works and is in the registry. Thank you!
