Doomsday requirements

I keep seeing that Doomsday is a HOI 2 expansion.

I don't see anywhere that I need to purchase HOI 2, but then I see that word "expansion" and I would get quite angry if I bought the expansion then discovered when I was installing it that I need HOI 2 as well.

Seems that I remember being able to search the forums, but not any longer? Or is that because I've been away for quite a while.

Doomsday is a stand alone game. You don't need HOI2

I have another question related to this. Am I missing anything if I install HoI2 Doomsday and do not have HoI2 installed? In other words, does Doomsday include everything from HoI2?

As far as I know, yes.

Apart, of course, from those things that have been delibately changed in the design. You won't find escort fighter units in Doomsday. Those have changed into attachable brigades, for example.
