I tried my first game in the 1944 scenario and I am getting get my butt kicked. It's August and I lost France, though I manage to hold the Soviets from Riga to Stanislawov. Norway empty, Finland alive, croatians in Italy, out of oil. I put my fleet at the straits. Grounded the Airforce (except sporadic intercepts) but my Westfront troops are out of org (and low on str.). So I need advice:

- Are there any specific moves required, like disbanding the surrounded troops of Cherbourg for the MP, counterattacking immediately or stand and fight to the end? Placing another minister from start to regain faster org? Bomb a specific enemy province or formation etc?
- How should I use the V1/V2? should I cancel all the production?
- How to save the 3 reserve Panzers at the Rhine with 3/300 strength?
- Should I strat redeploy Panzers to the west or drive them through Europe? in the first case my TC gets overloaded, otherwise I run out of oil (well that is inevitable)
- How should I beat the allies back? Destroy them at the beach or let them spread out?
- And why the heck does Bulgaria have 58 IC?!?!

Play on Norm/Aggr, mil control of Axis minors - and Japan.

PS= that assasination event adding 10% dissent caused a real blow! TC is about 900/600

I disbanded most HQ's and also some oil-using brigades that I deemed not neccesary.

Block the English channel, group your forces in the west and throw them back into the sea.

Hold the line in Italy while you do this^ and afterwards, use all your western forces and also your armour from the eastern front to take back Italy.

Don't forget to garrison all beaches.

In the east, I find that retreating to the Vistula river works well, so I have a line going from Konigsberg to Styrj, and then from there the two provinces of Romania that lead to the black sea.

Then be prepared for a huge war of attrition while you build up your forces for summer offensives. Encircle and destroy at your own leisure. ;)

ehm...when and how should I attack? With the existing divisions there, I lose even Paris within a week. First Cherbourg is captured and then the front breaks down, 2-4 days after start.

ok I made it! Some tips I was asking for:
- strat redeploy only the 3 reserve panzers with 3/300 strenght, (to the east?)
- immediately intercept above BeNeLux
- All ships fast to the channel
- Attack immediately at Avranches with everything - offensive supply inf and paras. Do not disband Cherbourg units, at least not from the start.
- ***Logistic strike Normandy with V1!!!*** is the key to victory.first Avranches and then Caen. Double strike if necessary.
- Switch minister to one with +20% org.regain.
- Save and reload during the first day seemed to help? AI retreated from a battle or two.

In the East: Send transports to get some divisions out of the Islands and Indonesia - if lucky you can get more than 5 divisions to Burma and China. It feels good to rescue the HQ+2 units trapped in New Guinea...

Having done these, it is now 26 July, my fleet is under attack but the Allies are off. Succesfull counterattacks vs USSR, a bit front and back and now there are some provinces with 5-20% Infra where I attack. Red Army moves around and tries to concertrate force. Production of Me-262 orderered. In china after a major surrounding the Japs are advancing, also holding Burma. Airforce makes good job there.
End of report - good luck to anyone who tries!

Did you military control japan?

Yes. I military control everyone, because I dont't want to see Japanese Battleships near Africa or 10 Finnish divisions sitting idle in Helsinki till Finland surrenders. It sure is ahistorical if I would choose to guard Denmark with the Bulgarian army, but I never go that far. And in this scenario I suppose there is nothing wrong in taking the 20+ idle Hungarian divisions from Budapest and send them to the Ostfront eh?
But I will NOT take those shiny Japanese interceptors to Paris!
Well, sometimes it reaaally sucks having e.g. Norway as my puppet and seeing it building 12 old style interceptors and only one INF! I wish I could control their production as well...:D
