104a King or Duke? What's in a name...
I really really enjoy CK. I am not entirely certain there are any rational reasons why, but I have a few oddities to report, one of which is below.
Back to my Duchy of Pisa game...
When loading a save game, I note I must choose Pisa from the Ducal list (as I should).
When I select the Duchy up pops the descriptive picture of the char. and some of the demesne. Unfortunately it also states that the ruler holds the "King of Pisa" title. (Personally I thought that belonged to Pizza Hut or Red Brick Pizza).
No matter, that has to be the guy I want, so I choose "start" and happily plow back into one of my test games. So, in the process of waiting around for my BB to be retired, I run a few vassilization attempts and regularly get the "Dukes cannot vassilize so and so's... because they are too loyal..." and so on. This is as you would expect playing as the Duke of Pisa. Unfortunately one need only look to the header-bar where the cash received notation states that you receive "x" number of demesnes possible for direct control plus a multiplier because you are a "king". (sigh)
Back to vassilizations... I have vassilized dukes and counts, but if I try to vassilize a king, the option is not available, so I must be a Duke, right? So, when I look at the crest for Duke of Pisa, why does it have the crown and red dots of a kingdom?
While androgeny can be fun on SNL and similar shows, it is rendered only confusing in CK. If this is wad, someone should clarify why and let the player in on it so he doesn't think its just more loose strings flapping in the wind...like the King of Wales naming issue...
Thanks!
