Vassals leave me without notice

I am using the German version 1.03b.

As duke of Saxony I conquered the pagan lands in Mecklenburg and Pommerania and gave away conquered provinces to courtiers. I already did this when the pagan "duke" was still owning one (or more) province and his title. When he lost the last province, my vassals just left me without notice or even a claim for me. That happened reproducable and with different courtiers (one of my childs, a female courtier with no heirs, a male courtier with heirs). There seems to be a connection between the former owner of the "duke" title loosing his last province and the title and me loosing my vassals. It's pretty annoying...

8) If you create a new vassal when your country is in a war, the vassal will go independent after war is over. So create new vassals only during peace. You can grant titles to existing vassals during a war though. Also, if new vassal is result of courtier winning himself a province in a siege (see next), he won't go independent.
Ah, I just found it in the "game engine oddities" thread in the main CK forum. Anyway, it's pretty annoying, especially in a long war...

this is 'the vassals or no vassals' bug it is not restricted to wartime vassals. you may not create a vassal with a same tag as a former vassal of a religious enemy because, when you destroy the religious enemy, all the tags that were his vassals will go independent.

plus there are even some weird spinoffs but that gets complicated...
