When a Dux is first placed in position his portrait is blackened and he has an hour glass in the top left corner, just like all of the Councillors do. When his term is close to being up he is no longer darkened, but the hourglass remains to tell you that there is still an early dismissal penalty. Again this is just like the Councillors.
However, when the Dux's term is up their hourglass does not disappear. This makes it a chore to find out if the Dux is actually still under the penalty timer. The Councillors all lose their hourglass when their time limit expires. The Dux portrait should be made to follow suit.
