DV- Game slows down with time

I play DV for a few years and everything is OK, but after 15-20 years the game really slows down, to the point that the monthly checking takes various seconds.

My PC is far better than required to run the game, so any ideas?

my PC is adequate, but the slow down is also noticeable as gametime runs on. since the AI also needs "refreshing" from time to time, what I do is reboot every 2-4 hours of play, depending on what's going on. it helps.
