I touched on this idea in the Arranged Marriages thread and though it deserved its own room to breathe as to not derail that thread.

The idea was to have a ledger in which you can pick a Dynasty by surname and the page displays all the characters of that dynasty and some details on them. The one relevent to the Arranged Marriage thread was that a column call Married/Eligible would be in. This eliminated the need for a Bride Finder and doubles as a Bachelor finder and makes finding a way to get royal ties easier.

It came to me, when as England, I went to King of France, and found no eligible bachelor/bachelorettes, but a mrried son, clicked on him, same result. I went back to his uncle. And well you can see where I'm headed. I did this for several ruling families before deciding I'm just going to super breed a pure Norman heir.

Anyways the ledger would act similar to a find a province/title function. Begin typing in the last name of your desired dynasty and all members of that house will appear. It would include, there county/duchy/kingdom of residence, eligibility and maybe some other goodies.

Now the main problem I'm seeing is memory usage. Now I'm no programmer or very computer savy but I understand that the game tracks each existing character already. So it seems that adding a screen displaying this information would not be too difficult. (I may be wrong).

So there it is. Well any thoughts? +1? -1?

the idea for a family tree rather than a ledger or list has already been proposed. listing characters is a bad idea because it gets confusing. the best solution is the family tree which provides a quick visual overview of a family and its relations relative to the character selected.

Hmm interesting but in the end game your gonna have this massive tree of a bunch of dead people and it will probably leave out many of the living characters.

Essentiall what my proposal is just an overhaul of the "My Dynasty" ledger. Its a little bit quicker and more concise for finding all the living members of the family.

Though I guess if you just followed the primogeniture line it would be fine.
