I just have a few comments after playing my first few games of CORE v.30 over the weekend.
I played a game as germany and I have gotten up to 1940. I noticed several things in the game.
1. The much lowered infrastructure throughout Europe means that your troops take much more attrition damage from low infrastructure meaning you need more manpower to reinforce. So by 1940 I am completely out of manpower which is fine. I just wanted to make sure that the lower province infrastructure levels are taken into account when redoing the manpower calculations.
2. Also by 1940 I was only able to make 210 divisions before running out of manpower. I have about 50 garrisons, 48 infantry 25 mot, 30 tanks, 30 mountain, and about 12 HQs. I do not use brigades except for MP on garrisons. But I gain 2 MP each day so i can just stop making units for about 6 months and build up a healthy supply.
3. I also think that the Coal conversion events are very nice but never give me a positive outflow of oil. Also I think that when war is declared oil consumed by the population should be less because of restrictions on travel and so forth. It does not matter though as I have stockpiled 200K of oil for the war.
4. Resource trading finally takes a slight toll on my supplies now and I actually had to decrease my builds a little and never maintained a large prewar supply stockpile. Rare materials however is extremely hard to come by. Pre war I only managed to save up 30k and now im down to almost 25K. At this rate I will be out in about 2500 days.
5. The annexation of Denmark event might be bugged because after the annexation I kept iceland and greenland. The the stupid AI convoy system set up a convoy to both those places and I had to turn it off.
6. I did a 15 factory build from the start till 1938 so I made an additional 45 factories. I must say I have never seen such an impressive IC total as I have now with 750 IC(modified not base) I have my largest ever build set going. I am making 90 submarines, 6 transports, 20 AA, 3 mech, 3 mot, 6 inf, 3 arm, 3 mountain, 2HQ, and 5 Gar with MP brigades. The build actually drained all my MP by 1940. So i stopped production on the land units and switched to upgrades. I should have 43 inf before my war with russia and should implement massive upgrades as the war begins in 41.
7. Also since the Russian AI declared war on Japan in 38 I think that it has few troops on the border with me and I am worried it will be too easy to invade the USSR. Also they are at war with Romania and have lost 3 provinces to Romania.
8. Lastly the AI for the air forces is greatly improved. I usually do not even make an air force in single player. I build enough AA guns that AI stops trying to bomb me. In this version the AI actually flies around my guns to bomb. So I have had to extend my AA guns everywhere making a sea wall of AA guns extending from Russia all the way along the coast to Spain.
