Have only a limited time to devote to a game and all PDS games require a time sink to appreciate. Recommend me a game that is easy to get into where a limited time gamer can grasp stuff and run with it.

Well if its limited as in each time you can sit down and play but come back to I would go with EUIV or CKII.

Eu4. It does not take much time to get into, playing it takes much time though. That's the case with all Paradox games. Ck2 is very difficult to get into.

I always felt Hearts of Iron 3 was the easiest to get into. But I know that literally NOBODY shares this opinion.

If you're talking the core titles, I'd go with EU4 (and a mid-sized country) - the plethora of characters and possible interactions in CK2 can be a little overwhelming at first. I wouldn't go HoI3 or Vicky2 (it's worth noting HoI4 looks like it'll have a much-improved UI and be easier than HoI3 to get into) first unless you were particularly interested in WW2/1830s-1930s gameplay.

If you wanted something 'similar-ish' to the core titles, March of the Eagles 2 goes well as well (imo).

Can't imagine why ;). Tell you what, I'm impressed, you must have some crazy-good brain :).

CK2. Even if you don't understand what the hell goes on, you can have fun watching everything go wrong/unite Ireland and start collecting genetic defects. Plus tutorial island is much easier than anything that happens in EU4.

this is a schizophrenic thread for sure!
CK2! NO EU4! No CK2! Whatever you do, don't choose Vicky 2! V2 is the way to go!

Someone already suggested HoI III, which is even worse than Vicky 2 for beginners IMHO... I could only do better by saying 'Dwarf Fortress', but it isn't published by Paradox...

I can do better - EU1. Haven't ever played it but I presume people will spend more time looking for a place to buy it than they will spend alive before dying of severe outdate.

HA! You think Dwarf Fortress is more complex than HoI III? Ya right. Dwarf Fortress is easy mode compared to the micro hell that is HoI. Either that or my love of Dwarves makes it easy. Gimli>Legolas

Definitely EU4. CK2 comes second, main problem with CK2 is that it's not easy for most people to understand the whole vassal thing, plus not being able to go to war, etc. there are sooo many different elements to understand in CK2! EU4 it's much simpler in that aspect. You are a country, if you want to go to war with another country you can, but the screen will tell you if it's not a good idea and why. In CK2 you just can't, and even when you can, then comes the problem that after you win a war, you don't own what you went to war for! It's really complicated for a newbie.

Now the real easiest game would be EU: Rome, but it's so outdated it doesn't really count.

EU4 is the best one to get into easily. quickest to learn feature-wise, and loaded with countries far off the beaten trail to learn at your own pace, and high power nations if you want to learn via trial by fire. 30 years as japan and 20 as austria or Castile and you'll all set for whatever.

CK2 is easiest IMO. There are so many opportunities to have a very calm, safe and quiet playthrough to learn the game.

If you have really limited free time, then I would recommend Sengoku.

why, thank you.

but scratch out the "-good" part. I am quite fond of my brain, but it being better at picking up HoI3 than at picking up EU4 makes it a crazy brain... ;)
