Workshop Link

What it does:
Ecology Mod adds a pollution mechanic to Stellaris that decreases the habitability and stability of your worlds (or improves it if you keep it clean). Pollution is produced by production, particularly heavy industry, and can be decreased with an array of new tools that include waste worker jobs, environmental policies, decisions, technologies, traits, civics, or garbage worlds.

The workshop page has a detailed list of features.

Requirements and Compatibility:
Ecology Mod is compatible with most other mods and doesn't require any DLC to play, though a couple of its features require Megacorp to see. The specific mechanics that it overrides are on the workshop page, as are any links to compatibility patches to other mods.

Feedback:
I love feedback! If you try out this mod, please tell me what you think. I've made a lot of changes based on the feedback I've gotten, such as garbage worlds, ecologically important blocker deposits, and many various compatibility improvements. I certainly don't add every idea I hear, but I am trying to create a mod that has something for everyone (that is into this subject at least).

It's been about 6 months since I released Ecology Mod and it's been getting regular updates ever since. It looks better, performs faster, has improved compatibility, and is full of new options for dealing with pollution that still fall into the background of the game. Some of these features were requested from users of the mod and others are ideas I've had since release. I'm not out of ideas either, so expect this mod to continue to grow so long as I can continue to put subtle features in it. The goal of the mod is to be indistinguishable from the base game, and I'm proud to have seen more than one post from players who didn't realize a feature was coming from Ecology Mod.

Ecology Mod has been updated to 3.0 to utilize the new tradition rework. Many of the features and bonuses in this mod have been moved from techs to the Environmentalist tradition tree. This better reflects the original goal of the mod - to demonstrate that technology alone isn't a solution to environmental problems. This makes mangement a little more interesting as more sacrifices have to be made to solve ecological problems.
