editing out the Majors or one Major nation

...about editing the Majors out. Can this be done in a game that is already in progress? I am in 1548 playing with Saxony. I tried to edit out Austria per the f.a.q. posted in the other forum and the game just crashes when I start. I did it VERY carefully.

Do I have to leave a space between the {} or not? Like this - {} or like this { } ?

Any help appreciated. I have to conquer Vienna.

I tried to make all countries annexable in a game I had already started too. My game started, but they were still great powers. Hmm...

Same here. I looked at the faq and various other threads and followed the steps very carefully. Game crashes when I start it. Seems the only way is to edit the scenario file and start a new game.....sigh.

I did it once following the FAQ and it worked. My guess is that u made a little mistake somewhere. A } here or there maybe is enough to make it crash ...

Sorry, can't help you out here. Never done it myself and are just rewriteing what others have said works =(.

I've discovered my "little mistake". I edited the wrong of the two files in the save games folder because I thought it would work anyway. When I opened the file I was supposed to just some boxes appeared and that's it. Does anyone know how i can open it? Should I open it in wordpad as usually or something else?

U needn't edit the one with the boxes but the other one, ends in .Eug.

So I edited the right file after all...
BTW how was I supposed to edit it? Just erase all stats in the beginning of the file for all the countries but me?

BTW does everybody have boxes in the other file? If so, what a relief, thought I was the only one...

Yes, should be boxes.

As I said before I only did it ocne and I used the FAQ listed at this forum, so that's all I can tell you. Trial and error.

The thread is still there, however for some silly reason even stuck threads vanishes of old age (due to your own settings).

I think that could be where the mistake is, is it?

I'm just guessing a little... any other ideas where I possibly made a mistake?
