Can someone please walk me through how to turn a non colonial nation into a colonial one. I changed the colonial dynas. to yes, but this had no effect. I noticed that Portugal's colonist=6.000000 so I tried typing this in, but all it gave me was 6 colonists, not every year. Help please.

Just go to your savegamefile and open it. Then search for your own capital (the shortkey on my system is Cntr+f). Then scroll up. You will first find the relations with you and other countries. Go a little further and then you will find a line that says:
colonialnation = no. Just change the no to a yes and you will get some colonists each year.

Just above that is a line that says: Dynamism = 0. How about changing that to 6. I thought that is also a option.

Probably the easiest way to give yourself SOME colonists is to edit yourself a shipyard in a coastal province (you do have a coastal province, right? Otherwise you can have a colonial dynamism of 1,000 and it'll do squat for you.)

I don't know how to do this either, but it's gotta be easier than buggering about with the dynamism tables :D

With a shipyard, you can get 2 colonists a year as CRC or Protestant, 3 a year as Reformist. This is enough to build a sizeable presence.

Giving a Shipyard is not that hard. Just open your .eug savegamefile
and search for the city you want to build that Shipyard e.g. Vlissingen (in Holland) then when the search engine gives you the result you will get a list of the promotions you have made in vlissingen but also what the fortress level is. Look for the line that says: Shipyard = no. And change that no to yes. That always works with me.

What happens if you do this in a landlocked province? Do you get an airport?

Submarining through solid earth is an even stupider idea than medieval aircraft. What, are we recruiting trained earthworms for the army now?

We must have skipped that page in my history lessons...

I had to try that, but the game just did do nothing. It doesn't add a shipyard in an other province or something. Nothing changes.

underground warfare

mmmm .... there were episodes of underground warfare in the wars between Spain and the protestant rebels in Flandes. Both sides digged tunnels to reach the other's positions, to mine walls in cities and stuff like that. I have read about that, soldiers in tunnel webs with pistols, little bombs, knifes and all that ... some kind of Modern Age Vietnam. Unfortunately any of the Spain's kind and comprensive effort to make dutch people come back to the real faith has success due to the evil influences of heretic and lunatic priests paid by England and France.
