EEP crashes right after loading.

Yes, everything went fine. But right after the loading screen closes, or minutes afterwards, the game crashes.

I got Europa Universalis 2 with Crown of the North, and I thought that came with the latest patches so that coudn't be the problem. Anyway I tried downloading the latest patch and it woudn't let me.

So what could be the problem?

Have you looked at the COTN thread in the Bug Fix forum?

No I didn't think I needed to. This is an EEP crash, the regular game works just fine.

The EU2 included on Strategy First's COTN CD is known to be less than stable. Try reinstalling from the original EU2 CD, apply the 1.07 patch, then the latest beta. Then rename the \AVI folder to \AVI2 or whatever (trust me on this one, it will impact the CTD on load problem).
