Hola,

My French events are in their final stage. I am looking for new lands to conquer. I have long felt that France and Spain needed the most event help. The intense EEP focus on Britain leaves the British player great flexibility, and the Spanish/French player little. One down, one to go. I have noticed that the EEP Iberia thread has fallen into the second page. I also noticed that that thread deal almost exclusively with pre-unification. I intend on making an expansive event set for Spain, not just a handful of events. I will also be working solely with Spain, so I made this thread. I do not have a lot of historical information about Portugal and I dont want to mess them up. If anyone wants to coordinate some Portuguese events with mine, no problemo.

This weekend will probabaly see a great number new events. During the time it takes me to construct them, I would like it very much if someone could provide me with the Spanish events that have been finalized in the EEP Iberia thread and EEP Western Europe thread. What did you guys agree upon and submit to Crook? Also, could the person who made the few SPA events in the EEP explain them to me? Let the construction begin!

I have scripted 3 early Portuguese events dealing with Henry the Navigator, simply because I thought he deserved some mention, and giving Portuguese naval research/income a kick in the butt wouldn't hurt. Will post them or send them to you if you are interested. Also intended to read/reasearch Portugal (& Spain as well) to see if I thought anything else was lacking, although Portugal does seem to already have a rather nice set of events in place. That may take time, of course...

I think Portugal should have an Expulsion of the Moors event too. In my games Portugal conquer Granada and/or Tangiers all the time.
Portugal expelled the Jews in 1497, so I am suret hat they would expel the Moors too, if they had a large Moor minority.

Garbon: Post those events when you are done with them.

Annibale and PMLF: Nothing against Portugal, but I dont have access to good resources on Portugal. I would have to do a lot of grunt work in the library to find it and I dont feel like it right now. I will have events for Portugal in my event file because of coordination (like the annexation of Portugal, reformation of Portugal, unrest in Portugal, etc.) but not anything resembling a full set.

Hi,

Well, I still don't have the game but if you want some historical backgrounds on Portugal for some events, I can help. When I get the game and can see for myself the existing events, maybe I'll suggest some. In the meantime I can only help with the historical background, hope I can be of some assistance :)

This does not seem to be the appropriate place to discuss Portugal.

Perhaps we should resurrect the iberian events thread or start another? Unfortunately, going on vacation for about a week, so I'll check around later:)

Fate: The problem I see with that is that the Moriscos were Berbers, not Arabic. I have a hard time seeing them going to Turkey or Egypt. So, I dont know what to do?

Maybe they would be forced to convert to Catolicism, or they would be killed or maybe they would be enslaved.

About they being Berber or Arabic, this is not relevant. I think they would be accepted anyway. Religion was the most important thing in that time, not ethinic differences.

Well, I dont really think that those people would relocate if there were no Morocco or Algiers. If those countries dont exist, then the refuges just vanish. I think it is better to just assume they are either killed by the Spanish or fled to rural areas on the North African coast. I see no compelling reason to have them go somewhere else. Unless someone produces some credible reason why they would flee elsewhere, post it. Otherwise, I will just have them vanish.

I am working on Inca Empire events, some of which involve Spain.
Perhaps we can coordinate our efforts? :)

creation of Spain reworked

Lot of people complained about this event and, as far asI can remember, a solution was agreed - move the Castillan capital to Toledo (possibly even the Spanish capital in 1492) and add Aragonian and Navarran CB's on all of the spanish provinces so that everyone can become Spain. But then nobody scripted that event so now I (finally :D) deicded to pick up tha task.

Remember to put the "capital=yes" line in Castillan 1419 file under province 439 (Toledo) and delete the line afterwards from province 436 (Madrid). Also it would be good to add CB's on all of Spain for Aragon and Navarra.

Code:
#Viva España#
event = {

	id = 3556
	trigger = {
		owned = {
			province = 436
			data = -1
		}
		NOT = {
			exists = SPA
		}
	}
	random = no
	country = CAS #also need versions for Aragon and Navarra, possibly even for Catalonia.
	name = "EVENTNAME3556"
	desc = "EVENTHIST3556"
	style = 1

	date = { day = 1 month = june year = 1476 }
	offset = 150
	deathdate = { day = 1 month = january year = 1490 }

	action_a ={ #Let us claim the name Kingdom of Spain#
		name = "ACTIONNAME3556A"
		command = { type = country which = SPA }
	}

	action_b ={ #Let us keep the name Kingdom of Castille instead#
		name = "ACTIONNAME3556B"
		command = { type = stability value = -3 }
		command = { type = relation which = PAP value = -100 }
		command = { type = relation which = NAV value = 100 }
		command = { type = relation which = PRO value = 100 }
		command = { type = relation which = POR value = -100 }
		command = { type = domestic which = CENTRALIZATION value = -5 }
		command = { type = desertion which = -1 value = 5000 }
	}
}

and then a new event

Code:
#Moving to Madrid#
event = {
        id = xxxx
        trigger = {
              owned = { province = 436 data = -1 }
        }
        random = no
        country = SPA
        name = "Moving to Madrid"
        desc = "In 1561 the King of Spain Philip II moved his capital from Toledo to Madrid, which was gaining more and more importance since the creation of Spain. After the court had moved Toledo never really regained it's former splendor."
       style = 2
       date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1561 }
       offset = 358

       action_a = { #Let's move
            name = "Move the court to Madrid"
            command = { type = capital which = 436 }
            command = { type = population which = 436 value = 5000 }
            command = { type = provincetax which = 436 value = 1 }
            command = { type = provincemanpower which = 436 value = 1 }
       }
       action_b = { #Stay where we are
            name = "The old capital is fine enough"
            command = { } #no ideas :confused:
       }
}

I went the other way with Castile and Aragon's CB shields. Initially they only have CB shields on their own territory, and they gain shields on the rest of Spain when they become Spain.

So 1419_cas.inc has
Code:
    nationalprovinces = {
        431 432 433 435 436 438 439 440 443 817 }
Castile's action to become Spain has the following effects
Code:
		command = { type = country which = SPA }
		command = { type = addcore which = 427 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 429 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 430 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 437 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 444 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 445 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 821 }
and Aragon's action to become Spain has the following effects
Code:
		command = { type = country which = SPA }
		command = { type = addcore which = 431 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 432 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 433 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 435 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 436 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 438 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 439 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 440 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 443 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 444 }
		command = { type = addcore which = 445 }

I agree with Lambert Simnel. I think that it is very plausible for Castille to only have CB shields on its territory at the beginning of the game. I think they should only get CBs on other territories when the acquisition becomes imminent (Aragon, Navarre, Granada, and Portugal). Also, I think that this will keep Granada alive (especially if you remove them from the kill list).

However, on changing into Spain, I dont think that Navarra should even be considered as a Spain contender. They are Basques.
