I have a province that's likely to rebel. It's not in any particular military danger, but I'd like to reduce the revolt chance, and reduce the severity of the revolt.

I know about city upgrades that reduce revolt chance, but I'm more interested here in knowing about the effects of fortifications.

If you put an army in a province, there seem to be two types of revolts:

1) A bunch of guys attack your army. If they lose, they disappear. If they win, they besiege you.

2) You lose control of the city, and a bunch of guys appear and attack your army. If they win, you've got a rebel-controlled city with guys in it. If they lose, you besiege them.

So what I'd like to know is, what happens if I put a huge fort in there? If it reduces or eliminates the chance that I'll get either of the above type of revolt, great deal.

But what I'm concerned about is that I'll get larger revolts, or that I'll still get as many "type 2" revolt cases, but it will be really hard to get my cities back due to the larger fortifications.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Whether they get their hands on the fort, depends on how high ur revolt risk is. How higher, the more chance. So there's always a chance wit ha revolt but evidently it is better to keep the revolt risk as low as possible.

IF the province is prone to rebelling but is not of strategic importance, u might as well keep a small fort there.

AFAIK there are two factors affecting if a province fortress will fall into the rebels hands.

Revolt % (higher is worse)
Fortress level (higher is better)

Of course if the fortress is taken, the lower the level, the easier it is to take back ...
OTOH not loosing the fortress at all has it's advantages too =)
