Now so far I like the game. Its fun and seems to allow for some depth, but I'm already having FPS issues and some clunky movements in which things just aren't smooth.

The second mission slowly grinded down in sim speed to maybe half speed when I had my game centered on my main hub. Something I noticed in particular is the shimmering of the fertilization stones really causes the lag to begin as there are simply too many particles in use.

The menu also runs at an EXTREMELY low FPS compared to the actual game.

My overall concern is:

In a larger SP game is it possible that I simply will have too much going on and the SIM speed will slowly drop more and more til the game is unplayable. Or can there be some options that can be disabled so I don't have to deal with this problem. Some alternate way to display that the soil is able to be collected from.

I don’t know if what you are experiencing is what I play on – but I play on a laptop that is not too bad with normal processes for a business machine, but certainly not made for games. Especially when it comes to graphics. I play with the graphics set on 1280 x720 and Quality Low and have not had any real issues with game play. Even on bigger maps with a lot a dwarves running around.

This might not have answered your question – but hope it put you at ease about any concerns.

I am running the game on a laptop on a custom built gaming setting. It isn't a super computer but I have a 2.3 GHZ quad core and the menu skips heavily as does the rest of the game when I start to expand too large. However, its 1920 by 1080 resolution which may be the source of my problem.

whats your graphical card? thats about the most important thing inyour pc if you want to play games. if you have a intergrated graphical crad in the CPU(i.e. intel HD graphics), there's probaly your problem.
