Okay, some of you are no doubt asking yourselves, “What is a Multiplayer Draft?”
Glad you asked! : )
A Multiplayer Draft is when two players randomly determine (using a discord dice rolling app as one example) who will pick first, then player one picks a Mech, player two picks the second Mech, player one the third Mech and player two picks the fourth and last Mech. These four Mechs will form the Lances that both players will then use in their Multiplayer Match.
The greatest benefit of Multiplayer Drafts is that since the Lances are identical, it is a players skill, knowledge of the game, tactics and scheme of maneuver that spell the difference between Victory and Defeat,
I find Multiplayer Draft matches to be of greater challenge and much more fun than other formats. You had an equal choice in the Mechs to be used and you still have complete freedom of MechWarrior choice in order to best set your tactics and schemes of maneuver in motion.
So I asked myself, is it possible to take such Drafts to the next level?
I believe so.
If a group of gamers got together, using BattleMech Drafts, they could each build for themselves a Solaris VII Mech Gladiator Stable.
In several important ways, this idea adds Mech Drafting to @TerrorTrooper’s The Elimination Chamber tournament.
Here is the Challonge description and rules for The Elimination Chamber:
Depending on our discussion here, I just might be interested in running such a Solaris VII Mech Draft Tournament.
Let me now reach out to The Elimination Chamber’s participants to get their “take” on using a Mech Draft with the Elimination Chamber format.
@23rd Cypher, @TheCallidus, @Heller, @R1H4, @TheSpyder, @Ozymandious, @KoplinSol, @sounderdisc6863, @SHunterSA, @Donutfarm, @Seolfor, @mikemcmann, @HBS_Eck, @Snowman741, @UberJager and @ObLoM - would the Elimination Chamber format work if all the Mechs had been Drafted by the participants?
True it would have leveled the playing field overall, but individual matches could then be held with any four of the drafted pool of 12 or 12+ Mechs.
I am curious to hear any and all comments you or any of our forum viewers may care to offer.
And as always, good luck and good HEAVY METAL gaming! : )

Here is the Challonge description and rules for The Elimination Chamber:
Elimination Chamber is more of an Event than a traditional tournament. Here participants face two challanges, not only the matches they aim to win but also the difficulty of keeping their Pilots and Mechs in „shape“ for the next round. The winner will be the MechCommander with the last operational duo of Mech and Pilot. This „tournament“ is to challenge your tactical decisions before you head on to the Battlefield and on the Battlefield itself. It aims for fun and thinking outside the box. This Event also is discord exclusive, all communication will be handled there. There is also a limited number of participants (8 at the start, if interest is so huge i will expand the maximum of participants to 16). The Event will start on the 30th of June and will use the HBS patch 1.1.
Ruleset:
All Mechs entering the Elimination Chamber have to be Stock Mechs.
Matches are played one match a week on a random picked Map from the Map-Pool. (Maps return into the pool once each map has been played once)
Turn Timers are set to 90 seconds.
Matches canceled by Comstar (Connection-issues etc.) have to be replayed, no ruling on match outcome from tournament organization.
Every Player starts with the full roster of all 12 Mechwarriors: Arclight, Apex, Buckshot, Blockade, Kraken, Mockingbird, Ozone, Paradise, Showboat, Sumo, Wildfire and Witness.
Every Player picks 12 Mechs for his Roster, 3 of each Weightclass (3 Lights, 3 Mediums, 3 Heavys and 3 Assaults) with a maximum combined tonnage of 680tons and no duplicats of mechs.
(example – LCT-1M and LCT-1S are viable – 2 LCT-1M´s are not viable)
Players have to submit their Mechroster before the tournament start, Mechrosters will be made public as soon as the tournament starts.
MechCommanders are allowed to retreat from a match. Retreat is handled via the eject option. You are alloud to eject Pilots as soon as 2 of your own Mechs have been been „eliminated“ from the fight.
Lances dropped:
Lances used in a match can consist of 1 to 4 Mechs.
There is a maximum of 2 Mechs per Weightclass.
Lances of 4 Mechs have to include 3 Weightclasses.
Matches are played with Stock only option enabled, partial lances enabled and unlimited Battlevalue.
Mechs are removed from the roster when:
Pilots are removed from the roster when:
Mechdamage is repaired after each match completly (except for destroyed mechs obviously) and injured Pilots are returning instantly to the Roster and to fighting shape.
After each match both Players have to submit a Screenshot of the Endscreen (steam default F12) so the tournament organization can update the Mech- and Pilotrosters for each Player.
