Hi,
This is one of my first AARs so please be nice to me :) .
OK, this is the first time i'm playing with Italy and my goal is to rebuild the Roman Empire, hence the name of the AAR ;) .........

Chapter one

Part I A village by the River

Mussolini looked at a map over Italy. He knew that they had Colonies in Libya and Somalia, but he wanted to expand. He had already started a war against Etiophia to secure his colonies in East Africa.
But Mussolini didn't want a war against the Ethiopians, he didn't even want colonies down there.
He wanted to rebuild the Empire of his ancestors, the Romans. He had already made up invasion plans against his neighbouring countries, France, Spain, Greece, Yugoslavia, Switzerland and the British/French colonies in Northern Africa.
But for now his first priority was to defeat the Ethiopians so that he would never have to risk colonies down in East Africa and he could concentrate most of his Forces in Europe.
While Mussolini looked at a map of the Roman Empire and compared it to Italy he knew he had much to do, and not so much time to do it in.
The Italian armies was in a bad shape, most of their weapons were old and the troops were not trained and supplied for battle.
The only thing Mussolini was real proud of was his navy, he could strike anywere within the Med. Sea.

The Italian Dream, the Roman Empire. The areas marked in red are what areas I will try to conquer

While Mussolini was looking at his two maps someone knocked at he door.
-Come In! Mussolini said.
It was Alberto Pariani, the Italian Chief of Army.
-Sir the Invasion plans for Ethiopia are now finished, we are know ready to invade and crush the Ethiopians under our feet. According to my calculation, Ethiopia will be begging for mercy witihn just a few days maximum 2 weeks...
-Good, launch the Invasion! Mussolini said.
-Ave Caesar! (Mussolini wanted to be called that as he was striving towars the new Roman Empire) Alberto Said and left the room.

Just a few days afterwards People could be reading in the newspapers and hear onthe Radio:
-Peace! The Ethiopian army in mass reatreat!

Retreating Ethiopian Soldiers

Mussolini smiled for himself while he waited for the Ethiopian Peace Negiator.
The Ethiopian Peace Negoitor came in the room where Mussolini sat.
The Ethiopian guy said,
-My name is Mambumke and I'm here to negioate for my countrys freedom.
-Yes, Yes. I know. said Mussolini.
Mambumke took out a document where it said:
"Peace Negoiation. Ethiopia and Italy.
Italy will now longer attack Ethiopian soldiers or Civilians as long as Ethiopia follow the following conditons: No attacks against Italian soldiers or Civilians. Ethiopia must also surrender all areas all the way to their capitol, thay are allowed, however, to keep two more provinces (not counting Addis Adeba)."

Mussolini whispered something to his Forgein minister that stood next him.
Mussolini then signed the treaty.
Then it was time for Mambumke to sign, he looked at Mussolni then he just starred right out in to the thin air before he signed it.

Mambumke Signing the Treaty

Next Day Italian forces started to occupy the provinces that had stood in the Treaty. As Ethiopian soldiers evacuated the civilians in the provinces the Italian soldiers sterted to take control of important buildings like Town Halls, Postal Offices and Schools.

During all this the Italian Supreme commander was being shipped back to Rome togheter with is Staff and two Divisions.
Back in Rome he got a letter from Mussolni saying:
"Ave General.
I've would like to meet with you in person tommorw. I have important news for you!
Meet me in the Senate!
--Mussolini"

Mussolini started to preapare his forces for a military campaign that he knew would take a long, long time.
He had already started to build Fortresses in the Alps to protect Italy from German, Switz, Yugoslav or French aggressions.
Mussolini knew of the Fascist partisans fighting the Government in Spain. He had supported them for a long time now. Soon he knew a Civil War was going to start in Spain. And then he knew when he should start his Campaign to Rebuild the Roman Empire.

So, what does people think?
I would like to have comments, both Good and Bad, please :D

not to nitpick, but... it's Imperium, not Emperium

why did you not annex ethiopia? if you did not want it, you could have released both ethiopia and somalia as puppets. they might have offered a few months of resistance to the british while you go after egypt some day.

Yeah, I was think to, but I didn't..........
I don't know why..............

And according to my mum, who read latin, it was Going to be Emperium, I wanted to write Imperuim but she said it's Emperium..........

Never trust people.

Now, here's a paradox, if you listen to me, you shouldn't then you don't but you would still be listening to me... there's no way you can escape my command...
MMMMBBBBUAHAHAAHA....

Good luck with the AAR, though beating the Germans to the ocupation of France may be a little tricky.

Mambumke Signing the Treaty

Yeah... Ethiopians did not have names like 'Mambumke'. I doubt that the Falasha had names such as that either. Herouy Wolde Selassie was the Foreign Minister in the game files. Of course, in real life, Emperor Haileselassie fled and set up a government-in-exile in England, and Ethiopian guerillas would continue to fight the Italians until Ethiopia was liberated. Also, the war wasn't for 'securing the colonies in East Africa'. You'd think the Italians could have done that without going through the expense of arming and supplying an invasion force of over 100,000 Italian soldiers, then attacking and annexing the entire country to the feeble and halfhearted protest of the League of Nations. A way to look at it that would have fit this reconstruction of the Roman Empire would be a regaining of national honour decades after the Italian defeat at Adwa in 1896. This would have fit even better as apparently you decided not to take anything of value from Ethiopia at all besides their territorial integrity and pride. Unless you took the province of Jima, which has a whopping 1 IC, or for you, .20-.35 IC depending on your Minister of Security.

No, I really could be meaner. The Second Italo-Abyssinian War isn't exactly my forte, after all.

hey, to come from a guy writing an AAR about a lobster you are kinda cocky.......

HEY THERE! Let's be gentlemen, shall we...? Maximum (obviously) isn't trying to play or post historical game, and so it is ok, IMO, to give us different goals for the war he's in already. In the game world, he has started the war for different reasons than Mussolini did IRL. Mussolini wanted to take all of Etiopia, Maximum want's to secure his colonies. You would have annexed, he took what he thought he neede to achieve his goal. 1 IC in Jima certainlywas not why he fought.
About the lobster-AAR Anonymous is writing, that's what they call "a joke" so he should not be judged by that as a player. Hell, I admit i Laughed Out Loud several times when reading that :p So please, be polite to each other and we all can be happy, ok? :)

Hah!! An Italian AAR! This is good for the beginning , all you need is experience no worry it will come:) I'm no expert but for me a good AAR is a AAR i can read with pleasure and fortunatly this is one of them:) Good luck and keep on workin on it:p
if you can uploaod the images in imageshack as hotlinks on forums(1) so they will be bigger, throw in some nice screenies and dont make Mussolini look like he forgot to do his homework in kindergarten and scrabbled it on some piece of paper (the Italian plans of their future empire):p
looking forward for the next part
:):):)

First I want to apologize to Anonymous, I didn't feel good today, Your AAR is funny I have to admit.......

Second I want to thank everyone that wrote comments in this AAR, I will follow any advice that I think is good and so on...... :)

I never even wanted a war against Ethiopia it's just that the Italians start with War against Ethiopia so I decide to destroy them and force them to peace real quick....

And I said Part II would come today and I'm sorry that it didn't but it's that my mum is Defragring the computer where HoI is installed so I couldn't access it today and probably not tommorw either, but please be paitned (sp?)

and the Map, yeah, well I made it in Paint and I just wanted to mark out my plans and let's say the "Great Painter" Adolf Hitler made the map :D :D :D

I apologize for my post as well. It was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, so I suppose I should have put a ;) at the end. Sorry.

I guess I was just projecting my frustrations over no one nitpicking on my other AAR, something that could have saved me a lot of embarassment.

or allesandra did it when she was very little and the lobster sent the drawing through time...

it's not important what country you play, how you play it, but how you write about it...

Part Ii

PART II will come tommorw, I've been having like a lazy day and didn't feel like writing, Please be understanding :)

Part Ii

PART II - VENI VIDI VICI

Mussolini was disturbed in his sleep as his secretary came in his bedroom.
-What is it? Mussolini said a bit disturbed for being a awenkend.
-Sorry but I have some importtant neews for you, Ceasar! said the Secretary.
-Well, what is it then? Mussolnini said.
-Here is the report. Said the Secretary and gave it to Mussolini.

Mussolini started reading the report:
"Ave Caesar!
Reports from Spain indicates that the Nationalists has started an Civil War!
We know nothing yet on how the situation is in Spain or how the Fasicts in Germany and the Communists in the USSR are reacting to this.
Neither on how Britain and France will react.
We will keep you posted
-- G.G Ciano"

-Gather all my ministers and best Generals. Mussolini said.
-AVE. the Secretary said and left the room.

1hour later all the ministers were sitting around the table in the "senate".

-As you know a Civil War has broken out in Spain, between the Nationalists and the Republican Government. And as you know I have been striving my whole life to rebuild the Roman Empire. Mussolni started.
He continued:
- This is our chance to invade our Western Neibourh, Spain, and in that way start the campaign that I call "Mare Nostrum", the Plan to invade the balkans and make the Med. Our Sea.

-But how, Ceasar? We have now invasion plans out troops in positon for such an invasion on Spain! Grazioli, the Cheif of Staff shouted out.
-Yes, we do! Me and Alberto, the Cheif of Army, has togheter worked out an invasion plan! Mussolini answered.

He showed a map of his invasion plan

The plan is to declare war on Spain before our forces are in positon, in that way they wont have so many troops ready to repell an invasion as they need to fight the Nationalists.

The Cheif of Army started showing on the map.
-First we shall make an amfibious landing in Marcia and then we will update our plans as the invasion contiues. He said.

All the other Generals and Ministers were stunned. They never thought Mussolini would com up with such a plan. Thay always thought of him as the Bad General thinking he was good. They had never really followed his orders.
But know they knew that they had to follow his orders, as this was really a good plan. And if it failed, they could always make a coup and crush Mussolini.
