Summary

Emperors, Kings, & Dukes randomly destroying their highest titles

Description

In two consecutive games I have seen an Emperor, a King, and a Duke randomly destroy their highest titles. In the first game, it was the King of Scotland after it grew to cover most of Scotland and England, and in the current game, it was the Duchy of Piedmont and then shortly thereafter the entire HRE. I was playing as a vassal in the HRE and so I was aware of HRE wars, and there was nothing that indicated that a coalition had formed with the intention of dissolving the HRE - one day in 1077, the Emperor simply informed me that I was independent and the HRE ceased to exist.

Steps to reproduce

This phenomenon has now happened to me in two consecutive games. Whatever is happening, it is separate from anything I can control. I am attaching a save file that starts in 1077, shortly before the Emperor will destroy his highest title; just let the game proceed and you should see it happen.

Could it be like a tyranny war which he instant give up on?

or is this not possible for dissolving factions?

Hi! In the provided save file there is a Dissolution Faction against your Liege, this can be seen in the "Against your Liege" tab in the "Factions" menu. This faction holds 350% of your lieges military power which is most likely why Liege submitted to their ultimatum and dissolved the HRE without a fight.
