I know to disable game music and closing all programs running in system tray will help out the game from crashing on me, but will running personal downloaded music also effect game crashings?

The answer is it will depend on your system.
Running any program in the background will hurt game performance but if your machine can handle it then you may not notice any difference.
As for causing a conflict with the game, that would depend on the program.
Try it and find out.
If it does not work for you, you can always add the music you want to listen to into the game by adding it in the music folders and then the text file.
