In my current game as Spain it is now time for the Ming dynasty to end and the manchu to become China. But everytime this happens, the game crashes back to Desktop. And it IS this particular event, because if it is deleted from the event file, everything goes fine.

Please give me some help.

The latest Beta (11/26).

I just deleted the event now,but that way Chinese AND Manchu are still around,so it's a bit annoying to see in 1743.

Same Problem

I am playing China and when it gets to Manchu taking over the Ming, first some event move my capital to Guangzhou then another event causes the program to crash, I have the latest patch downloaded from paradox.

I think the events sequence its wrong.

It doesn't cause that problem generally. What patch version are you on? Running any mods such as EEP?

To Kennely:

The 'End of the Ming dynasty' (assuming that this is the historical one) happens in 1683, and consists of three events. You haven't specified which of these 3 events you have deleted/'commented out, but I suspect the country tag switching one. Please confirm if this is indeed the one.

China event 10026 is the first. It's option A) Manchu event 10027, which lets Manchu inherit all of China. After this event has executed, China should no longer exist. This is the trigger for event 10024, which should go of a couple of days later, and switches the country tag from Manchu to China. After this, Manchu no longer exists, and all of it's assets should now be China.

To Canberra:

Event 10025 moves the captital to Guangzhou, but there were some events leading up to that. To determine what is going on, we must know what.

When the fall of the Ming dynasty happened to you, did Manchu still exist as a nation? If it did, what option did you choose, option A (continue to fight in the south) or option B (surrender to the manchu). If the last option was the one, then you should save and reload as soon as you become Manchu, because the event system has a problem with country tag switches, and sends events to the wrong nation after a tag switch. Save/reload corrects this.

The ming falls, I threw in the lot with the manchus. The manchu and china combines. Then ming disapears. Rebellion continues. I get an event asking me whether I want to finish teh Ming, it has two choices, I am too weak and let them be or crush them. I choose crush them. Then I think my capital was moved to Guanzhou. After some time. My computer goes Ming falls again and Shunzhi becomes emperor AGAIN. the screen then goes crazy. This is all I remember. I was too busy fighting off the rebelions and moving my troops for seiges.
But I will start again and save the game ones the change over occurs. Thanks

Then I think I know what is going on. I was heading the same way in my China game, only I quit as soon as I got the event that moved my capital. That event is tagged for China, and should never have occured after you changed tags and became Manchu. I even filed a bug report about it.

As soon as you have changed into Manchu, save the game and exit. Then reload with that saved game, and all should be fine.

The game engine to date doesn't handle tag changes correctly. Until you save, quit and reload, the events for your old country tag are still active for your nation, after you have switched over to a new country tag. The events for your new country tag (in this case the Manchu events) remain dormant. If you quit and reload the game after the tag change has happened, the load routine now attaches your country to the correct events (Manchu in this case), and registers that the China events should remain dormant, as there won't be a China at that point.

If you don't save/reload, then you will get events that you weren't supposed to get, and all sorts of nasty things can occur, because the events are executed out of context, referring to leaders that aren't there, monarchs that aren't there, etc.

Hi everybody. This is my first post, even if i've been hangin out here reading, a lot.
I have a problem with the game crashing, actually not really crashing but going idle on scenario loading.
I am playing China and i am around 1630, the Manchu events are taking place.
I was playing when the game crashed. As i restarted and reloaded autosave, the loading screen went stopped with the bar at 90% loading.

What is the deal?

Thank you for your attention

I would make this a new thread in the troubleshooting forum instead. More likely to get attended to there. :)
