I'ev been playing as the Abbasids, and I've completely knocked the shit out of Al- Andalus, conquering the entire region. I think there should be an event whereby if the Caliphate(or any sunni nation perhaps?) vassalises Al-Andalus, it should signify the end of the Mutazelite Caliphate and convert Al-Andalus back to sunni(and perhaps any other mutazelite nation too?) and have a bunch of negative effects for Al-Andalus.

Seems smart to me, what do you guys think?

To some extent surely the game already contains these mechanisms. You conquer Al-Andalus or force-convert it through a peace deal.

And for the province, you convert in the normal fashion, right?

Why do you feel that Mutazelism as a religion ought to be single out for mass conversion through conquest? I'm not saying your idea is bad, but it really needs more explanation I think.

i thing i would have arather better sugestion here; the event that caliphate has "threaten cordoba"; its outcome should be a rightaway war with al andalus if it does not listen to caliph threats....

i have a major reason why i think that would work perfectlly...always caliphate beat the crap out of byzhantum..i have NEVER seen byzanthum hold the turkish minors, and even when it partially does it ALWAYS remains a full land tech bonus level behind caliphate and looses all the wars against it ( many times caliph has 18 land and byz 13..... ). now a forced war with andalus around 1500's will make more intreasting the situation since it distracts caliphate wich around same time ALWAYS smashes byzhantum. not to mention that mameluks factions would also have a second war in case the first does not have a fast result in wich sharay faction wins...

all above are true in case all nations mentioned are ai

I once tried force converting cordoba (old version) to sunni after the heresy (I was the abbasid caliphate) I got above 50% warscore but the option for force convert still didn't come up. Either it's a bug or there must be some additional condition for force convert that I don't know of

MUST have its capital occupied, then over 50 percent warscore and IMPORTANT: must peace it as "separate peace" option even if it is 1 on 1 war

Dosent make alot of sense historically speaking.

The Abbasids and Ummayeds(Well generally Iberian Muslims) have always been at odds, but the distance makes everything almost irrelevant. The Caliphate would be more concerned with dealing with the Byzantines, Crusaders, and the Ill-Khans than care about what Al-Andalus does - especially since the Andalusians have been taking care of their own affairs for quite some time now (circa 870?)

Which is really why Im going to change the Mutazelite file.

I had the capital, though I probably didn't have a seperate peace, how do you get that?

in the
"offering peace" screen; click "al andalus leader of alliance" or "caliphate leader of alliance"; see what happens ;)
conversion works for any nation as long as within its religious group as christians or muslim

Well, if you conquer Al-andalus so badly that you can convert or even vassalise them, you can only use your warscore to do either of those things. I was thinking an event more like the one where if you vassalise Ethiopia as Egypt they turn muslim. There would be plenty of sunnis still in andalus I would say, and perhaps a civil war could erupt but I still think that there should be some sort of event whereby sunni islam completely conquers mutazelitism.

I'm with rhodz with this one, under the current build the Caliphate does care about mutazelitism, that might change if the build changes, but beyond that, anyway it could never happen if a player ISN'T playing as the caliphate (and certainly not if they're al-andalus)
