Playing the demo right now and I noticed something interesting.

I'm playing as Shoni and I've declared war on my eastern neighbor, Otomo. After chasing down and wiping out their entire army, 4 Kori's on their western side (along our border) defected and became a new clan, Kamachi. So now they've got a buffer clan Kamachi in between us.

Is this normal? I was planning on taking over all of their Kori's but now I can't take the land belonging to this new clan, Kamachi. To declare war on them would require another 20 Honor (mine has already been cut to 8 honor, due to the aggression against Otomo).

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ah, I see. I wasn't able to find something related on the forums. Thanks for your reply Mauso.

I'm trying to grab the rest of Otomo before they all defect. Another southern chunk of Otomo just became part of Kamachi. I guess it kind of feels like the AI is changing allegiance (going by a new clan name) and can thus avoid me taking their territory.

I'm loving that this can happen... Definately adds to the challenge of it all.

Questions though... You chased down their whole army and wiped them out to the last man? I'm assuming that's what triggered the ambitions of the breakaway clan.

Perhaps a better strategy would be to break off sieges as you continue to chase their army... or just beating them to the point where they are no threat and just leaving them while you start besieging.

For the provinces which defected/changed allegiance, I don't think I was currently sieging them. I had moved my army further east to wipe out the rest of their troops. But they basically could not raise any more Levy and their army count was very low.

I fail to see how it would not be normal. A solid defeat weakens the leash, and all the poisons that lurk in the mud can now hatch out.

As for not being in a war, they basically revolted and went home. Remaining at war would only serve to unite them against a common enemy.

plus they are a new clan, who you don't have much indepth relaltions with, therefore of course it would cost honor, asy ou would be attacking a clan you only just met.
