Last night I was playing EU as England and when the year 1595 started my religion automatically changes back to catholic from reformed. Is this a bug or a historical fact?

Tolerance Edict changes state religions that are counterreformed back to catholic automatically.
Dunno why u want to be counterreformed as England though.

I hope you meant reformed as in Counter-Reformation Catholic and no as in Calvinist. Otherwise, send your save game to Paradox ASAP.
