Hi,
Does anyone know if we will be seeing a stronger English
ai or an attempt to eliminate the poor showing of
England to France and/or Scotland
in a future patch?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. England was a second-tier power at the beginning of the period covered by the game and spend most of the first 150 years just establishing itself and fighting a civil war. England didn't do any significant exploration or colonization until the late 1600's and didn't become a significant power until the 1700's. From what I've seen so far, the game depicts England reaonably accurately.

Xure, they weren't strong but they shouldn't be losing hoem provinces on the isle that easily.

England was a major power at the beginning of the game, although not as powerful as France or the Habsburgs. Extensive colonization started at the beginning of the 1600s (and trade with distant nations even earlier) and by the end of the 17th century, England has outdistanced Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands as the leading commercial power with only France still in competition. Unfortunately, currently in the game England has a difficult time preventing France and Scotland from taking home provinces, but hopefully this will be fixed in future patches.

Scotland doesnt seem to develop land tech, so its quite easy to annex them when you have artillery (land level 3). Well, you will probably loose Calais, but you will loose it now or later - you just cannot keep a strong enough army in it to defend it in the beginning. So the problem with England is just in the bad AI. England is to small, so you dont have to defend you home provinces. If they have at least level 2 fortresses, they will keep until you come with your SINGLE army. Single, but strong!
